“Lovely Peaceful Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We stayed in Yorozuya for only one night. Check in was fine, we arrived in the morning and left our luggage since we couldn't check in yet. Really friendly and helpful staffs. They assisted in making reservation for a temple tour in Kanazawa as well as assisted with some queries to another hotel in town. However, I read that the ticket for MATSUMOTO CASTLE is provided here at HALF THE PRICE. However, the receptionist didn't offer.

The room was large for Japanese standard, with a single and an economy double for just the 2 of us. We had the view of the temple rooftops from our window. It was comfortable and quiet.

Breakfast was another plus point. Not the biggest variety but good enough and in a nice dining room with pleasant view.

I also like the neighborhood - Nice park next door with a couple of benches. I sat on that bench a few times waiting for the rest of my group to be ready... It was really pleasant and peaceful with the view of the river and residental apartments across and nice weather... I stayed in Dormy Inn a few days later which was slightly costlier but more central and modern. Yet, Yorozuya definitely has its charm...

Stayed with them in the very end day of 2012.
The room is slightly wider than general Business hotel (B&B in urban side), the bed is wide enough for 2 persons to sleep comfortably.
We stayed in the 6th floor, that made us possible to see the Matsumoto castle from the room window.
There’s a conbini (seven-eleven) nearby the hotel.

The breakfast was a kind of disappointment, as it was Japanese special new-year breakfast but tasted nothing.
I individually would prefer normal breakfast.
In addition, since the breakfast time was set quite early and short (AM7:00-AM8:00),
the narrow cafeteria was packed with guests all the time, some of them even couldn’t take seats, it made us restless.
Hope they improve this matter.

The location (5min walk from Matsumoto Station) and the reception were perfect.

Room Tip: 予約時にお城を見える部屋をリクエストすることもできるようです。 It seemed possible to request a room with castle view when you book...

Great location and helpful staff. Easy walking distance from train station and to the Matsumo Castle. Plenty of food and shopping in the area. Next door to a shrine. On the river. Had lovely view of city and castle from my 7th floor room for my stay. Liked the slippers and robe, one free coffee/tea package in room.

Only downside is that free Internet WiFi is only in the lobby. 3rd party fee service on the room floors.

Included all-you-can-eat Japanese breakfast buffet was great too. Looking at the reviews, I didn't realize there was a Japanese style room option. I had a western room and it did not smell of smoke.

Matsumoto is a great place to stay. This hotel was easy to find and not too far from the station. It was a bit dated and the corridors smelt of cigarette smoke (make sure you book a non smoking room if you don't smoke), but the room was really nice. It was very traditional with tatami mats and sliding screens on the windows. I was really surprised at how large the room was.

Another surprise came when my son came across an adult channel (lol).

There's a river across the road and a temple (with a beautiful garden) next door. Matsumoto Castle isn't too far to walk to and you'll see some amazing little shops along the way.

We managed to get this hotel for (in Japan anyway) a fairly reasonable rate of about 12000 yen for four heads.
Hotel is a short 5-min walk from the station.
We took the Japanese-style room as this was reasonably spacious and allowed us to sleep with 4 tatami matresses in the same room ( we were travelling with our 7 year old and a nine-year old). Hotel was clean and quiet.
Japanese-style breakfast ( a simple buffet with rice) was provided free for this price.
One computer with free printer and internet acess was available in the lobby.
