Excellent hotel although if you have any tattoos, you will not be able to access the hotel's onsen/spa, which I found a little disappointing. Other than that it was a great place to stay, clean, and very friendly staff.

Stayed here for two nights during a family trip in late May this year. This is a business hotel as many of the guests seem on business trips. The room was small (expected in Japan) but clean. However, the restroom we stayed had a strong odor, so we had to spray the deodorant (prepared in advanced in the room, lol). Sadly, the odor did not disappear. And the lighting in the restroom was relatively dark. If you are a fan of hot spring or prefer a good hot bath after a long day, one of the advantages is that there is a on-site public hot spring or bath place. We visited there twice during our stay. The hotel breakfast is expensive (1400 yen per person), so we did not have our breakfast there. (There are couple of restaurants and convenience stores in the train station.)

APA Hotel Kanazawa is a typical Japanese business hotel locates right behind the Kanazawa train station which provides a good place for a stopover or short trip in the city. I booked a single room with breakfast in March 2013 at a low price.

The room itself is a bit tired and very small but acceptable for just a night's stay. Breakfast offers plenty of choices. Onsen is a plus to a business hotel.

What "impressed" me was the radical right wing reading material (a book and a in-house magazine) promoting distorted history of Japan and its neighbouring countries and aggressive political views which I, as a Hongkonger, found very offensive and uncomfortable.

I would not recommend APA Hotel group to the travellers who are concerned with this kind of thing.

I spent one night here in April, when passing through Kanazawa. The best thing about this hotel is the location . . . it is just a few steps from the train station, which is nice after a long day on the train, and convenient for accessing the tourist shuttle. I didn't notice any noise from the station when in my room. Beyond the lobby, the hotel is a bit dated, but busy and clean. My single room was the smallest I encountered on my trip, with a tiny little bathroom. But it was clean and quiet. The bed was fine, and I got a good night's sleep even though the pillow was kind of bean-bag-like. No free wi-fi. The hotel had some very nice Japanese-style baths and a spa area with saunas. There was a buffet breakfast with a large selection. This hotel was fine for overnight.

Our group of 4 guys stayed in 2 twin rooms. The hotel is a great location for those travelling through Japan on a Rail Pass and in Kanazawa for a day or two. It is right at the train station, which is also one of the main stops of the little tourist bus which does a loop of key sites in the city.

The rooms are a bit small (but i've had smaller in Tokyo), but otherwise clean. The service at the front desk dont speak much english, but friendly and patient enough for us and checking in went smooth. They are also happy to look after your bags for the day of check out if you are going to visit the city before leaving town.

They have great Onsen, with both indoor and outdoor baths. Make sure you explore a bit to find the three single baths located at top of the stairs, they are outdoors and quiet private, great to relax in.

I didn't explore the food options at the hotel, but being close to the train station meant there were plenty of options for dinner and breakfast.

Would happily stay here again.

Small rooms. Only 12 Rough Guide books wide for a double. The ground floor reception has a cafe but isn't really welcoming. However the breakfast was reasonable with a wide choice of food mainly japanese but also European but this hotel is really not suitable for a long stay.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Stayed at the APA Hotel at Kanazawa during my December family holidays. It is located centrally near a bus and train station with convenient stores everywhere, but here lies the problem if you're looking for some peace and quiet. Human traffic outside the hotel is high, with locals rushing for work/school and buses plying the station.

The room is tiny for a family of four. This was made worse with an extra bed placed inside the room. However, the saving grace is the Eki Spa, both indoor and outdoor pools to soothe any frayed nerves.

Overall cleanliness is acceptable and I would recommend this hotel for short stay if you're with family.
