If you are a seasoned traveller to Japan, you can skip this ryokan.

It is not really near the train station. The interior of the room is run down and is not clean. There is no lift, hence not a good choice for elderly traveller or traveller with heavy luggage. Breakfast served in western style is not value for money. You can get better food along the street at a cheaper price.

The indoor onsen was the only positive thing

We were very disappointed with our stay in this ryokan. Don't be fooled by the positive review. We have seen better ones.

The staffs speak very little English and our Japanese are literally non existence. We find it very hard communicating or raise a complaint. However, the staffs are very friendly and polite.
Definitely not worth dining here. Very expensive (20,000 yen + 8% per night), the room is smoky and no exhaust fan available.
I would definitely find elsewhere to stay with the money we spent.

We stayed here in early Dec and was meant as a stopover for visit to Takayama Old Town.
When we entered the entrance, guests names were written on the wooden blocks to welcome you.
We had two big luggages and had to lugged it up the stairs, thankfully our room is on the second floor!
When we entered the room we were pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness and also nice interior decor of the room. We stay at an ensuite twin bedded room with a small little sitting area with windows. Separate toilet and bathroom inclusive.
The room also had a very good heating facility,it was really nice for the ryokan to warm the room before we check in!

we did try out the public bathhouse on the ground floor... i was lucky to have the place to myself.

The ryokan is only couple mins walk to the Takayama Old Town and you will bypass the Tourist Info counter on the way...
There's also a nice HIDA beef bbq restaurant 4 mins walk from Ryokan.

Parking is free on site.
We really love the room and felt like home!
bed was comfy too!

Easy to find and conveniently located in Takayama - where almost every tourist site is virtually walkable to. We were given rooms on different floors - not an issue. We had an ensuite room and took our bath downstairs. Bath came with a really small pool to soak in.

"Boutique" style ryokan. We booked 4-rooms, all spacious and comfortable. We didn't managed to book all rooms with ensuite toilet and bathroom. But we were lucky, when we checked in, we were given all rooms with ensuite toilet and bathroom, at no additional charge!!

No lift. Public hot spring bath available, one for guy one for lady.

Good location. Less than 10-minutes walk to Takayama train station/bus terminal and close to "preserved" street.
