In a nutshell, for about the same amount of money you'd pay at Toyoko Inn, you can get a similar experience and a bit more value out of your money by staying here.
High points:
-Rooms use card keys, meaning you don't have to check in your key every time you leave (common at business hotels in Japan)
-A bit of a subtle point, but the shower faucet is one of the TOTO temperature set ones as opposed to typical hot/cold faucet type; usually see the temperature type at higher end hotels
-Modern rooms with thick bedding, smaller sized flat screen TV
-Free WIFI and LAN Internet
-Located in a quieter part of Sakae with lots of local fast food places around; just about a 7 minute walk to the main shopping area
-Relatively late check-out time of 11:00
Low points:
-As another reviewer had mentioned, room had a considerable cigarette smoke smell, in spite of being a non-smoking room; hotel does provide each room with a bottle of something like Febreze
-Though room furnishings seem relatively new, the bathroom looks a bit worn and dated
-Doors are made of metal, which get can quite nosy with neighbors coming in and out and when the maids start their work in the morning
-No free breakfast unlike Toyoko Inn; there is a buffet breakfast that looked pretty good with a big selection, but I didn't try it and it seemed a bit pricey at 1100/1300JPY
On my most recent trip to Nagoya, I had stayed at the Tokyu Hotel across the street. While that experience was far superior in many ways, this hotel was less than half the price (rates for single rooms seem to hover around 3500JPY to 7000JPY depending on day/season), but I felt like I was getting a bit more than I paid for.
