“Allow a lot of time here - it's great!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is one gotta see place.
Do not just allow a couple of hours it can easily soak up 1/2 a day
We went there with the plan of seeing the museum then Noritake then ....
The next day we set off to see Noritake.
The displays are interactive, the guides are really technicians and almost every thing you see is working
Just ask a question and these guys (and girls) will explain how the machines work and show how

The weaving exhibition soaks up a heap of time then there's the auto exhibits then there's the other stuff we missed
Have a careful look at the auto assembly machines and plant. This is so true to the industry it's not just put up for show

mind you it is embarassing to admit we used to own a car in the museum hmmmm....

“INSTRUCTIVE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I learnt a lot about Toyata (Toyoda) and a lot about textile industry. Of course the second part of the museum is about car industry but for me, the most interesting part was textile part.

“If you like the TV shows "How things are made..."”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012 via mobile

...then you've come to the right place. The Toyota commemorative museum is amazing! Most places just show you exhibits or machinery, but this place takes it to a whole new level. For the textile portion, they first explain the methods of ancient times and how things were done by hand and you slowly learn how automation replaced previously labor intensive tasks. What I found most spectacular versus other museums was the involvement of the museum staff in explaining everything. All the machinery was operational and they would show you step by step how to operate each machinery. It just made the entire place more engaging than any other museum I've been to.

The automotive section is the same! You learn about each part of the automobile from even the forgiving of parts using a 12 ton press and under a 1000+ degree oven. I spent only two hours there because I had another place to go to, but I would recommend allotting an entire afternoon there if not an entire day!

“Excellent Japan experience with children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We took our 6 and 9 year old daughters to TCMIT and it was a wonderful afternoon. The staff was prepared with English explanations for how all of the machinery worked and provided real hands on experience with all of the stations. It was the most interactive museum experience we have had with our girls, and unlike museums in the US, all of the displays were in good functioning order. The girls also had a chance to build their own model AA car and they enjoyed Technoland, with great learning stations for kids. Our whole family wants to return. The walk from Nagoya station was an easy 20 minutes.
