“A very nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

I stayed in this hotel in late September for 3 nights and found that I have made the right choice. It is conveniently located with just 5 to 8 minutes' walk from Sakae Station, The station itself is a shopping spot already with a lot of small shops but beware that they are closed before 9 pm. The room is bigger than expected and very comfortable. I won't rate it with 5 stars because there is no free wi-fi in the room and we need to go to the lobby if we want to use our smart phone. We tried the breakfast buffet on our last morning and I don't think it is worth 2600 yens. Not much variety in my standard and if your room rate includes breakfast, that is okay.

We stayed here for 4 nights. It was our second visit after one 2 years ago. The best things are it's helpful staff and location. The concierge staff deserve special mention. It has a very fancy lobby complete with doorman in top hat.

The location is a taxi ride from the station but great for shopping, restaurants and bars. You are right in the cbd shopping district with 4 department stores nearby if that's your thing. (I recommend Parco for its range of stores and it is slightly easier on the pocket than some others.)

The rooms are fine - we paid $100NZ per night more for a Superior room while our friends were in a Standard. We don't think the extra money was worth it as there was very little difference. (The superior room had a free-standing wooden make up ''dresser'' with 3 way mirrors and lights which I didn't use as there was a make up mirror and good lighting in the bathroom.)
The rooms both had a lovely bathroom. The beds are very firm but with good pillows.

Would definitely stay again.

This hotel is absolutely worth the price. I stayed one night in September. The breakfast was great, rooms spacious, well ventilated and quiet. The employees was very helpful and politely. Absolutely nothing to complaint about.

The room I stayed was not spacious, but clean. The breakfast was good, and the most important is the location, when you visit a major city in Japan, strolling around the streets is necessary. I went to TV Tower, Mitsukoshi Department Store and Sunshine Sakae just by foot, Sakae is a highly developed area in Nagoya and you can find all kinds of recreations here. It's so pitty that I only stayed there for one night.

Stayed here for conference for 3 nights. Stayed on the Executive Floor which has extra security, comes with free drinks (beer/wine included!) / snack (great appetizers!) and English papers, etc. in Executive Salon on the ground floor (open 6am-10pm), and gives free access to gym / 25m swimming pool / sauna. The staff are nice and are willing to assist you. The free breakfast was very good. No problem with internet access. Rooms aren't big but good enough size for business, clean and comfy. Nice bed, and bathroom. The location is excellent as it is in the middle of SAKAE, the center of Nagoya night life with great restaurants and bars. Convenient store is located right across the street. Metro is only 4 min away, and if you are doing the sightseeing of Nagoya Castle, etc. this place is very convenient. From the Nagoya station where the bullet train stops, it's about 15 min by taxi (30min by metro).
I would definitely stay here again!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Stay on the Executive Floor

I've stayed at the Tokyu hotel many times.

Positives:
- Stay on the 14th floor in an executive room and you get complimentary access to the gym, pool and sauna (although please note that these aren't open until lunch time - annoying if you want to go for a swim first thing in the morning).
- Staying on the 14th floor also gives you access to the business lounge downstairs (next to reception). It's a place where you can have your breakfast (cereal, yoghurts, breads, etc). There's also a decent coffee machine and during the evening it's also possible to get beers and whiskeys.
- Depending on the time of year, a bus stops at the hotel and takes people to the airport (cost was 1000Yen).
- Close proximity to Sakae.
- Memory foam beds
- Quiet air-conditioning

Negatives
- The rooms aren't the most modern (but they're clean)
- Can be some noise from outside
- Only English TV channel is CNN
- 10 minute walk to the nearest tube station
- Gym not open in the morning

Overall, compared to hotels like the Marriott and ANA at Kanayama. The Tokyu is the best place to stay (IF) you can get on that 14th floor.

Room Tip: Get on the 14th floor.

Large lobby with well working elevators (light indicating which one of the six is coming).
I had an early check-in arranged and stayed for one night. Modern room with outstanding mattresse and pillow. A lot of bathroom amenities in a little bit outdated decoration, but verything very clean. Interestingly, the windows were unable to cope with the traffic sound from outside. Free wifi in the lobby, but the cable in the room provided free internet connection with my laptop.
Extensive breakfast bufet. All foods had an indicator for the calories per 100mg or 100ml. Very good.
Also very good: the bus shuttle to and from the airport immediately stops at the hotel entrance.
Spa and sports are NOT for free!

Room Tip: Ask for one with new windows with a better acoustic isolation
