“Nice semi-budget place very close to the train station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

This is a pretty basic place, but seemed pretty clean and nice to me. I did not have breakfast, but the train station is just two minutes away.

The location is obviously the main draw; just across the street from the train station (on the Shinkansen side). The area is quite lively, with many izakayas and other bars/restaurants nearby. Of course, given the location, you hear the noise from the Shinkansen and especially the beeping from the pedestrian crossing nearby. If you like a quiet place, this is not your place. However, I slept well. WiFi also worked well; staff was friendly, and so on.

I would probably try to stay here again if I had to go back to Nagoya in the future.

The hotel basically has everything we need, really.
Like:
- Good location, opposite Nagoya Station, next door to Yoshinoya (Fast food chain), 2mins walk down to ESCA (Underground Mall) lots of good food, like Yabaton Katsu (must try) and money Changer near by.

- Free wifi, slippers, pajama included. But also Alarm clock? Deodorizer spray? Shiseido Moisturizer?

The only downside is quite small. Overall we're happy with the hotel, they have good service and helpful reception.

After staying overnight in the much more expensive Hotel Washingtton in Shinjuku the wondeful little Business Hotel Shinmei in Nagoya offered significantly better overall value indeed. The well layed out small double room was quite comfortable by Japanese standards. The hotel reception staff were friendly and helpful. For those interested the Nagoya Castle is also only a quick subway journey away. There were are vending machines within the hotel and many options for restuarants within a short walk. All in all this plcae offers clean & tidy accommodation in a great location. Highly recommended.

Very clean hotel and very convenience location right across Nagoya Station. Behind hotel have many different small bars and restaurants. Staff are very friendly and very secure. Also Yoshinoya that serve cheap and good beef bowl is located at the lobby of hotel. This is great for anyone looking for good late night snacks, more breakfast, or food before your adventure Nagoya.

The reason this place is very desirable is it's location. It is right across Nagoya railway station, so you have access to almost all parts of Nagoya city.
Next attractive thing is the price according to Japanese city standards.
Yes, WIFI is available for free. You need to collect the password at the reception when you check-in. There is a small restaurant right next to the hotel, so you can grab a bite even way early in the morning. This is not hotel property, so don't expect room service.
The room has all the basic facility provided according to Japanese standards. The part I dislike is the tea pack provided as a complimentary stuff contains powdered green tea and not a tea bag. There is the robe style pajamas provided which I really don't like. When you roll around while sleeping, you practically get half undressed, so not my kind of sleepwear.
As for the bathroom, again all the necessary stuff was there. They have the washlet commode , compact bathtub, great shower, so nothing to complain about.
Everything in the room as well as the hotel was neat and clean.
Overall experience was good. The rooms are compact, but remember after all this IS a business hotel, and the rooms are supposed to be compact.
What they provide is excellent for this price and you shouldn't ask for more.
