This hotel is more like a boutique hotel with its attention to detail and service than any of the big hotel chains in the area where you are just another room number. Jordanians are very warm and welcoming people and these qualities extends to Captain's Hotel especially, where we were treated with the utmost courtesy and with the highest levels of hospitality.
Rooms very quiet considering you are on the street side. Our room had super efficient siplit air-conditioning and was spacious with a separate lounge / seating area with new flat-screen TV (with satellite), dreamy king size bed, stocked mini-fridge, writing desk and a nice balcony with chairs and table for enjoying the lively Aqaba scenery al fresco style. The closet is big and comes with a safe which is convenient to use. The bathroom was nice and clean and included a fancy bidet too!room 311

We enjoyed our stay at Captains. The hotel room was neat and clean other than the shower which was broken and needing replacement. Our only other complaint was the difficulty we had in getting information about recreation activities in the area from the staff. (Diving, wadi rum tours etc) Staff did not seem knowledgeable about these activities - which companies to recommend, how much they might cost, time required etc.

The details of our one week trip to Jordan was planned by Petra Moon, a Jordanian tourist operator that supplies drivers and do-it-yourself tours. Captain was the only hotel where we left it up to them to pick. We were very satisfied. While I wouldn't call this a boutique hotel, it is obviously where Jordanians on business and anyone who wants good value would stay. If money is no object, then you would probably go to Kempinski or Movenpick. We spent the day on Movenpick's beach, ($25 per day) and had virtually the same experience as their guests. (It's only two blocks away.)
Yes it is a little noisy, but the sunsets are fabulous and Aquaba is the place Jordanians want to build up to be a little bit of Israel. The dining room is used to large tour operators (from the Ukraine?) arriving; they can feed 80 people arriving at once, no sweat. Thus the food is a little assembly-line, but again perfectly adequate. We'd recommend this place too.
There is a little excavation of the city about 18 centuries ago, this is only a few blocks from the Hotel. It's free and just a short walk away.

We booked the Captains hotel by chance but couldn't have made a better choice if we'd tried. It's a lovely modern boutique style hotel, close to the downtown area. The rooms are large, modern and very clean. Breakfast was perfectly adequate but pancakes would have been a nice option. All staff were friendly and helpful including Ahmed, the manager: He met us most mornings to check that everything was OK and even asked if we had any suggestions for improvement! The pool was a bit smaller than I imagined but at least there was one and it was very clean. The original restaurant is still there and it's as popular as ever. There's even a fitness centre if you can be bothered ;-) Special mention must go to all the Filipino cleaners who just don't stop wiping, dusting and polishing! The place really is spotless.
A small negative point is the fact that it is very noisy on the street in the evening. This never bothered us as we had the AC on and the windows closed but might be a problem in the cooler months.
Highly recommended!

This hotel is truly worth the few extra dollars. lt is absolutely clean and finished to a high standard . Our room was good sized, we opted for a king size bed but still a fair amount of space for luggage etc. The bathroom is finished to a great standard with a fancy jet-stream spray shower.
Staff are polite however we found that the evening receptionist wasn't very knowledgeable and his English was rather poor compared to other staff.
Breakfast was more than great. Huge selection of breads, pastries, cheese, cold cuts, freshly made falafels and omlette made in front of you with ingredients that you choose (ie:cheese, parsley, onion, mushroom, tomato), fresh fruit, huomus, yoghurt.
The pool is very clean with 3 different depth(0.6m for babies, 1.6m and 2.4m at the deep end.

A very good hotel with a exellent location, right in the middle of Aqaba. Near good restaurants and shopping. The restaurant at the hotel is one of the best restaurants in Aqaba and a lot of locals eat there. There is a 7 eleven next to the hotel entrance and lots of ATMs near by.
It´s quite far from a good beach so you have to take a taxi, cost about 10-15 JD both ways. Recommend the beach called The Japanese garden, no sun beds and things I´m used to at beaches but a great coral reef , so bring your snorkling equipment .
