“Luxury in Aqaba”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Big chain hotel which is situated furthest North from the rest of the hotels, but it’s still an easy leisurely stroll 15 mins to the town centre, but a 15min taxi ride to South Beach.

Rooms are clean and tidy, pretty much what you would expect from a 5* star hotel. Our room had amazing views of the huge pool and beach.

Beautiful decor throughout the building. Reception staff are very business like and curt, but rest of staff are friendly and welcoming. A good choice for breakfast and the executive lounge staff were really friendly!

There was evening entertainment throughout our stay and the Martini bar was often blasting out loud music which wasn't really audible from our 6th floor room.

The reception staff were great very welcoming at check in and check out. Billing was correct and no issues. Door staff and security were very attentive there is high security locked gates scanners, metal detectors , personally that's a good thing I want to feel safe. Our room 461 was lovely overlooking the pool and sea beds comfortable room spotless room staff very good. Breakfast Buffett comprehensive. Beach clean towels soft free water in little ice bucket a nice touch. Water sports skiing and jet skis all reasonable for example 25jd for 15mins, In summary a great hotel what you wpuld expect from a world leading brand. Oh forgot good gym and spa gym sauna steam all free. Enjoy

I stayed at the InterContinental in Aqaba on the first Friday/Saturday of November this year. This meant that Aqaba town was filled with Jordanians escaping Amman for the beach for their weekend (which means the town was buzzing - a great thing to see).

The hotel was "very good" to "excellent" all round. It is a very impressive building with a great pool and private beach area in a prime spot on the bay of Aqaba. There's a huge development being built to the Western side of the hotel (but there's development all over Aqaba so this isn't unusual). This development will continue for a long time, but it didn't affect our stay in any way... the only noise we heard was from the music from the loud speakers down on the public beach in town (which blare out at a ridiculous volume!)

It COULD be said that the pool / beach area looked a little "tired" and I think it could certainly do with a spruce up soon, but this is being very picky. It's well worth getting one of the hotels with a private beach... the public beach is a no-go for Western women wanting to wear a swimsuit and other private beaches down the coast cost a lot to use... In terms of service down there, it was very good indeed, with complimentary water (in an ice bucket) accompanying your beach towels in the morning. The complimentary water was great all round actually - plenty each morning left in your room too, which was very useful. The ONE negative (and not really the hotel's fault) was a very large group of rowdy Polish men who stayed on our final night and noisily dominated the pool and jacuzzi in the late afternoon - just when we were nicely relaxed.

Our room was fantastic - can't fault anything in there at all and it had everything you'd expect from an international 5* hotel.

In terms of food, we only ate breakfast in the hotel, choosing to eat other meals in Aqaba itself (a much cheaper option)! The breakfast buffet though was excellent - it had everything to tempt you to stuff your face and to skip lunch!

All in all, a very, very good hotel. Not the BEST I've ever stayed in, but certainly worthy of it's 5 stars.

Stayed here for a couple of days whilst diving in Aqaba. Beautiful decor, and helpful staff. I had a room overlooking the sea- view was mildly obstructed by a wall but still nice. Bathroom is very luxurious! The resort facilities are fantastic- swimming pool, deck chairs etc. they also give you a little easy with water which is a nice touch. I used the on site facilities to go water skiing too- very professional but ran about 30-45 mins late so don't plan it on a tight schedule. The resort is about 15 mins walk away from downtown where there were plenty of restaurants. Breakfast buffet was incredible! 2 downsides- room service was not great. I had a chicken hot pot which was the most bland thing I've had for a while. Serving size was also poor- I ended up eating the entire bread basket! Second downside- wifi is ridiculously expensive at 8JD an hour. Its a little hard to fathom why... Many (actually almost all) restaurants downtown have free wifi, whilst the Internet cafes charge 1 JD an hour, so yeah. Disappointing given that everything else was brilliant!

We stayed 2 weeks in Aqaba January 2012. Fantastic hotel! Excellent service. Relaxing atmosphere. Great staff, that helped us with diving information and good advices for our day trips to the Jordan river, Dead sea, Petra and Wadi Rum. 5 stars, no question!

My husband and I spent two nights in this lovely hotel during the Eid weekend. Since the entire country was on holidays and most people were coming to Aqaba to enjoy the warm weather and the sea breezes, the Intercontinental, like many other hotels were completely full with no vacancies. Our check in was smooth even though we arrived prior to the usual 3p.m. check in times. Our room was perfect with a wonderful sea view and a balcony to enjoy the view from. The hotel had its own beach area in addition to several swimming pools. There were programs for the kids. Although we did not have our children or grandchildren with us, it was notable how many young families selected this hotel. There were children everywhere ranging from babes to teens. They were welcomed in all parts of the hotel. There were also several restaurants on site serving different types of food. Our only complaint was the cost. Since this was during the Eid holidays, the hotel charged considerably higher rates for their rooms and breakfast was not included in the room rates. Perhaps this is a bit different during off season. Buffet breakfast was lovely, but also quite expensive.

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor with balcony and a Sea view. It was a perfect choice for what we wa...

We stayed 3 nights here in October, wish it was longer as the hotel is lovely, relaxing and it has a beautiful beach.
A wee glitch at check in was handled well and all the staff made us feel special. We ate her on 2 nights and the food was lovely, outside at the Martini lounge.
Breakfasts were the best we had throughout Jordan and it was lovely eating them outside in glorious heat.
I wish we were there just now rather than freezing back in Scotland!!
Having walked in to Aqabq and eaten one night there I would recommend eating in the ICH even though it's a few JOD more.
The only -ve I can think of for this hotel is the crazy cost of wifi, it was 8 JOD/hour or 15 for the day, bearing in mind the Internet is so important nowadays for travellers it should be free and was at all other hotels we stayed in in Jordan
I thoroughly recommend this hotel if you ever crave luxury and beautiful weather in October/November.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a Red Sea view
