“Whenever I need a pizza.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012

I find myself at Pizzeria del Corso. For 5 dinar, you get a fresh made pizza big enough for two, made by friendly guys, and topped with a number of different toppings, including mushroom, margharita, ham?, and veggies..... While they are making it you can slip next door and get a drink and dessert. Haven't eaten in the main dining room, but the take out is easy and reliably tasty.

“A good pizza is a different thing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

Italians travelling abroad should never eat in an Italian restaurant, let alone a pizzeria. I always try to stick to this principle when I travel, but in Aqaba, after a couple of weeks of hummus and kebab, I yielded to the temptation of the Pizzeria del Corso.
I shouldn't have done it. This would-be Italian pizzeria is owned by an Egyptian, but that's not necessarily a point against it – after all, in Italy lots of decent pizzerias are run by Egyptians. The point is that the pizza doesn't taste like a good pizza. The dough and the tomato sauce are quite poor, while the fresh cheese is anything but mozzarella. On top of that, I know and I understand that Muslims can't eat pork, but if you can't use ham or salami, you should be content with a menu of vegetarian pizzas instead of resorting to a questionable expedient like beef salami.
The owner of the Pizzeria del Corso also runs Gelato Uno, a very good ice-cream parlour right next to the pizzeria. If you fancy a pizza in Aqaba, my advice is to forget it and look for some fine, fresh seafood instead. Then get back to Gelato Uno for the dessert.
