My wife and I were in Israel and took a trip to Jordan. Our original itinerary was to include Petra for two nights (see our review of the Movenpick Hotel there) and then a night in a Beduin tent in Wadi Rum. It was very cold when we were there and our guide suggested that instead of staying in a cold tent at Wadi Rum, we go to Aqaba after the tour of the dessert.
We agreed and are glad we did. We stayed at the Kempiski Hotel on the Beach in Aqaba, which was five star all around. The room was large, comfortable and quiet with a great view of the Gulf of Aqaba and the city of Eilat. We had dinner outdoors facing the gulf at their seafood restaurant, which was superb. The morning breakfast was sumptuous. The service was excellent throughout. After dinner we walked the few blocks into the center of Aqaba where we enjoyed the nightlife and bustle of a busy city. The next morning we walked to the mosque and the market. We are glad to have have changed our plans and to the warm welcome and comfort of the Kempinski Hotel.
