The reason we booked this hotel was it was rated in our guide book as 'highly recommended' mid-range hotel in Aqaba, and all of their previous recommendations we had used had been fairly good. Oh how wrong they were.
This is a horrible hotel and should be avoided. I usually like to give a couple of pros in my reviews but this hotel had no real redeeming qualities so I will list the reasons as to why you should not stay here - followed by a couple of things that were alright with the hotel.
Cleanliness: Very bad - the room was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom did not look like it had been clean and there was a number of pubic hairs all over the place (nasty). Also we were only there for two nights and the room was not cleaned at all during our stay.
Security: Very bad - the balcony door did not lock, and we were on the first floor - we asked if we could change rooms but the staff was exceptionally rude and did not allow for this to happen (thankfully we had a portable lock and were able to secure the door that way).
Location: It is near the bus station so it is pretty loud throughout the day and especially in the mornings. It is relatively close to downtown but still a bit of a walk. Staff: Could not have been more unhelpful if they tried. We asked for help about getting to the Royal Diving Club and they were rude and basically told us to figure it out ourselves.
Breakfast: Bad - Stale pita bread and jam, with very bad coffee (although it is free better to get something in town).
Room: Size was not too bad - it was painted entirely in purple which was not that bad it was just very odd
Air conditioning: It worked, but only if you had a pair of pliers...
And lastly there was a fridge.
Overall I would recommend that people avoid this hotel. Although it is fairly cheap (35-40JD) there are far better hotels for only 10JD more and it is totally worth it to avoid the nightmare of staying here.
