“Mariott -- Great value for Park/Fly and close to Buffalo Airport”

Buffalo Marriott Niagara

Mar 23, 2008

We stayed at this hotel the day before our flight out of Buffalo and the day after we arrived.

The hotel is under-going renovations but we found our room - great with all the usual mariott amenities (fluffy bed/cushions etc).

What is great about this hotel is that there wasn't a high level of traffic for airport travellers (unlike the accommodations near Buffalo airport) -- we parked our car for FREE (they have a huge parking lot) and took the shuttle (FYI - service starts at 5am).

On the way back -- we took the shuttle in and was grateful that the restaurant was opened for a late late dinner. Hotel was cosy and warm -- we had the breakfast buffet the next day -- FABULOUS bargain (lots of choice).

There's a pool area in this hotel -- just didn't have time to get to.

We had a great price via priceline.

“OK But Desperately Needs an Update”

Buffalo Marriott Niagara

Feb 1, 2008

An aging Marriott. Upon entering the lobby and public areas were very nice and up to Marriott standards. Hallways were somewhat dark and the carpeting was showing some age. The room itself was beaten up. Many wires hanging down in full view, carpeting was at the low end of ok. Bathroom was a nice size and fixtures were in decent working order. The real problem was the king size bed. They do indicate that a full renovation is coming and i hope this particular bed is the first thing thrown in the dumpster. I would have been disappointed to get a bed of this quality at an Econolodge, moreless a Marriott. The springs were poking my back all night long. I suppose i should have requested a room change but i did not. The staff was extremely friendly and cheerfully gave very good restaurant recommendations. I'm sure when these much needed renovations are complete this will once again be a jewel in the Marriott crown.

“Great Hotel”

I consistently stay at this hotel when flying out of Buffalo or going down from Canada to shop. It is a fabulous hotel and although it is showing its age (they are beginning a large renovation this year), it is still in great shape, very clean and worth the stay. The staff are always excellent and it is close to the Airport and shopping. They have 2-3 very reliable Airport Shuttles.

“Good location, but aging”

Buffalo Marriott Niagara

Jan 11, 2008

Stayed a night at the Buffalo Amherst Marriott. Not a bad hotel by any means, but it's sure showing its age. There are posters indicating that renovations are coming, so one can expect that things will be improved down the road (don't know when, though).

Room is fair-sized. Bathroom is not too small either. But furnishings etc are showing age -- see pics. By no means awful or anything, but this perhaps lacks the usual Marriott standard.

Beds are comfortable. Not much noise from corridor, even though we were assigned room X18, which is almost right across from the elevators (despite my request for a room away from elevators). However, every time our next door neighbor closes a door, or a closet, we could hear a loud bang. And they seemed to be doing a lot of that. Desk is smallish, and I ended up having to work at a diagonal, since there was no way the chair could fit between the desk (pulled out) and the foot of the bed. Internet is 9.95 a day.

There's a coffeemaker in the room. Also a fridge/minibar that needed some credit card approval etc. Didn't use it, so I don't know what's in it.

TV is the tube variety. Maybe renovations will bring in flat screens.

Fitness room is reasonably equipped, with multiple stations and treadmills, etc. However, there were no cups for water, and only one towel left. It was quite crowded too, probably a result of some meetings that were taking place at the hotel.

Location was very good for us, since we were just passing through. It was right off 290, and easy to spot. There are various restaurants and supermarkets etc in the area, so it's very convenient. Also there is a large gift shop in the lobby area, and it even sells snacks etc.

Had breakfast in the morning. They serve a breakfast for 12 or so. Not a bad spread. The usual fare. Service was pretty attentive.

All in all, not a bad property. Will we stay here again? Depends on what rates we get, I suppose. There are many choices in the area.

“Good price good location”

We stayed over New Years. Did a few day trips to Rochester, the Falls, Toronto. The hotel is a good location to bounce around the sites. Plus you avoid the jacked up prices for the hotels right next to the falls in Canada.

Cons - Drinks in bar are weak, get beer/wine. Beds weren't the best, too hard. Check their website before booking, it appeared they were about to start some renovations.

Pros - Price. Front desk staff were really nice, gave us an early check in. Free highspeed wireless in the lobby. Good location. nice indoor.pool and hot tub if you catch it without children.
