“Poorly managed, old and buildings disconnected”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Very disorganized Labor Day weekend. Rooms not ready until after 3:30 pm with housekeeping very much in control. Front desk inexperienced and unable to resolve problems. Placed in Back building second floor without elevator for one night.....very inconvenient. Building old some upgrade but NOT GOOD. New owner no liquor license bar not serving.
Breakfast was too many people too little space....
Pass on this hotel..do not think it will be Holiday Inn long...

Room Tip: Definitely not back building.....NO ELEVATOR....

Dear journalist2,

Thank you for your recent review of the Holiday Inn Buffalo Amherst hotel. As we are one of the original Holiday Inns in the Buffalo market, yes, we are now faced with challenges of an aging property that we are addressing swiftly under our new ownership. You’re right, we recently experienced some challenges in our Housekeeping department over the Labor Day weekend. We apologize that the staff did not effectively handle the difficulties. Please know your valuable comments have been shared with the entire hotel staff. As we are under new ownership, we genuinely hope that you would visit us again to experience the improvement in our quality of services and amenities. We do currently have our new liquor license and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused prior to us getting it. We are striving to take our property to a new level in service and accommodations. We are still in a great location to Downtown Buffalo and Niagara Falls with free parking, complimentary wireless internet and one of the largest indoor pools. Please visit us again so we can showcase the improvements we're making. Thank you again for your candid feedback!

This is one of the most strangely laid out hotels I've ever seen - which doesn't make it a bad hotel, just inconvenient in ways that matter to me. Its as if they'd taken two nearby hotels & built a first floor walkway in between them. It was expansive.
- they didn't allow early check in
- it was difficult/confusing to get to our room.
- there was no elevator in the section where we were staying (that we could find!) & we had quite a bit of luggage
- nearly impossible to get back onto the highway fro the hotel because it's on a very busy road with a lot of traffic volume which you have to cross with a left turn to the highway.
The room itself was average. Not bad, not good. The in room Keurig was nice & it was quiet.
The staff was adequate overall.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the building closer to reception. We were in the farther building which made everyth...

When my husband and I travel our first choice is Holiday Inn and this was not our first visit to this location. Last time we stayed we were generally pleased with the accommodation. We went back this year over Labor Day weekend and were VERY disappointed with this establishment. We had made our reservations in advance and after finishing our business in the area we went to check in at 3:00. I was looking forward to a quite swim in the pool and relaxing afternoon before going out for our anniversary dinner. We were told that the rooms were not ready and there would be a slight wait. I decided to sit in the lobby and knit and my husband went to get the car washed. How long could the wait be, right? Our room was finally ready at 6:00 P.M.!!!!!!!!

The attitude of the staff was blasé about our being inconvenienced and the room we were finally given was in the very back portion of the hotel, pretty much a separate building we didn't know existed; as far away from the pool as you can get. When I asked about the jacuzzi listed in the guest services manual I was told it no longer existed.

Needless to say for our trip next year we will be looking for other accommodation.

Stayed here over the Labour Day weekend- Front desk friendly, loads of parking. Booked room with King Bed - room on 2nd floor;back portion of the hotel. Room clean, quiet and Keurig machine was nice. Easily accessible to highway and shopping.
Didn't have chance to try onsite restaurant.

Room Tip: 2nd floor in back of building was pretty quiet considering it being a long weekend and hotel was ver...

I booked this hotel when another I wanted had the worst reviews ever on here!
There are good and bad points about this hotel.
The good points are;
Decent sized car park.
Staff friendly and attentive.
Beds were very comfortable.
Very importantly for me (especially if you've read my other reviews) the PILLOWS were so comfy and not at all lumpy.

Bad points;
The hotel is very tired and needs a make over, especially the carpets in the hallways. I guess the manager knows this anyway! Least ways they need a deep clean as they are very badly stained.
The rooms (well, our room) looked clean but when I dropped something down the back of the bedside table, there was far too much dust and grime for my liking.
However, the linen and towels were spotless.

Mr/Ms manager, you need to get your cleaning staff to move the beds etc and also clean into the corners of the rooms!
Likewise the bathroom. If you can't get a refurbish, ensure that what you do offer is spotless!

Overall, a comfortable hotel.
I would stay there again and recommend especially for a short stay in the buffalo area.

This is probably the worst hotel I have stayed at...Rooms filthy, staff seem to busy in there self-importance. The motel 6 on the Blvd had cleaner rooms and was cheaper. They need to tear this building down. Location's great. Building is so old, I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! get better quality for cheaper money somewhere else.
