Chanters Lodge thrives on service for its guests, from Richard Chanters, the owner, to his entire staff. They go out of the way to accomodate each guest, at least that was how we experienced them during our three day stay. The restaurant provides a varied menu of well prepared local and continental options at reasonable prices. Full service bar and wine selections. If there is a slight downside to this lodge, it is that the rooms are due for a facelift, but at the prices it is hard to complain.

Richard Chanter, the owner, was excellent. He was extremely welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. His team were also on their toes to make sure our stay was pleasant. If i return to Livingstone, Ill be going to Chanters again.

Looking for a relativiely small guesthouse, not expensive, in a green area, on footwalks distance from the city center, not far from the falls, we found after visiting some hotels this Chanter Lodge. It offered what whe were looking for.
Many times I have been thinking during this travel through Zambia and Congo: angry white man, go home. So it was a relief to meet Richard Chanter, with a warm and positive attitude concerning the Zambian people and concerned about how their lives.
A good place to be !!!!!

After reading all the reviews and then staying here it is difficult to find anything to say that hasn't been addressed before. Without a doubt the highlight of a trip to Chanters Lodge is the support and personal service you get from Richard. He is happy to discuss your itinerary, offering great suggestions and tips on any aspect of visiting the area.

An example of his invaluable support was on our arrival to Livingstone, our luggage decided not to accompany us. We were stuck, not only without luggage but the requirement to go back and retrieve it from the airport the following day. Richard took care of everything. He drove us to Victoria Falls in the morning so we could start our sightseeing and then he went to the airport with our paperwork and retrieved our bags. We returned later in the day to find our bags already in our room, what service. He also made numerous calls for us coordinating activities or our follow on hotels.

We found the rooms to be comfortable, clean enough and provide everything you needed. To address several other reviews that comment on tired rooms or cleaning: I had one concern while we were staying there and I brought it to Richard’s attention, he immediately took care of it. So I would suggest to others if you have a problem let him know, and I'm sure it will be dealt with directly.

We ate dinner there and thought the food was of very good quality and value. We enjoyed sitting by the pool after all our sightseeing, it was cool and quiet in the gardens.

This is a great place to start your trip, get settled, and work out any details of your trip. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
