We, a team of 12 people, who had just completed 2 weeks of humanitarian work in Northern Zambia were pleasantly surprised to arrive and find the lodge that we had booked from home, (under a very tight budget ), more than we expected. The rooms were clean and spacious, each with air conditioning and its own bathroom. The garden was lovely with a gazebo for shade, chairs and tables for sitting about and the pool a refreshing pleasure. The breakfast included in the room cost provided a good number of choices and was nicely prepared and presented. Meals can be eaten inside or outside on a covered patio. The Lunch and Dinner menu is quite extensive and for the most part, the food was tasty and nicely prepared for Zambian standards.
The staff is friendly and effecient and Mr. Chanters was very helpful and accomodating to our needs. The Lodge is about a 15 minute walk to town centre whereby you pass a busy market that was excellent for souvenir shopping.

Lodging: Very basic and outdated rooms. The air conditioning worked fine, and it was good to have mosquito nets over the beds. 2-3 television channels in the rooms, but you aren't in Zambia to watch TV.

Restaurant: Food was not great and overpriced, and the menu did not represent what they had in stock (there were no beans, no mushrooms, no fries). The free breakfast was quite limited, given the lack of availability of certain foods.

Staff: Richard was a pleasure to be around, and was very concerned that guests were comfortable. It was a great perk to be picked up and dropped off at the airport.

Facilities: Simple but comfortable. There were fresh flowers in the restaurant. The garden was very nice, with fountains and flowering trees and plants, and a small, pretty swimming pool.

Overall: We did not want to pay $400-$500 per night to stay in the hotels right at Victoria Falls, so chose this as a budget option. It was adequate for the price, but do not expect anything but very basic lodging.

Tip: DON'T FORGET TO BRING US DOLLARS ($$$) WITH YOU TO ZAMBIA -- YOU WILL NEED THEM TO BUY YOUR VISA TO GET INTO THE COUNTRY. YOU WILL SPEND $$ IN LIVINGSTONE RATHER THAN ANY OTHER CURRENCY.

I'm really sorry to read the review of our food for which we've always had good reviews in the past. We're not at all in the habit of running out of things on the menu and indeed pride ourselves on not doing so. My apologies to these clients for this lapse.

We were a party of four Rob, Sally ,Terry ,and Jayne. On arrival met by Richard who gave us a very warm welcome at Lvingstone Airport.
The accomodation was lovely, the staff were all so welcoming and we felt all at home immediately. Visited local bars and enjoyed the local beers. Victoria Falls breathtaking.
Thankyou Richard Chanter for contributing to a fantastic time.

Chanters lodge provides a very reasonably priced accomodation option in Livingstone with exceptional service and standards. We stayed in a poolside room which was large and airconditioned. The service we received far exceeded our expectations and Richard Chanter and every member of his staff were always only to happy to help with any query we had or any assistance we required.

Richard helped arrange for the organisation of our many activities in Livingstone, as well as bus transfers. We were also pleasantly surprised when it was Richard who greeted us at the airport and with our entry visas (again arranged by Richard) transiting into Zambia was a breeze.

The lodge also has wi-fi which was wonderful, given the difficulties that are often faced when travelling and needing to access technology.

Chanters Lodge also has a restaurant, which provides a great option for dinner after a tiresome day of adventure activities.

Although Chanters Lodge isn't directly beside the falls, we found that it was very easy to get to the falls by taxi and the advantages of not being beside the falls included not having the constant helicopter noise overhead of the flights over the falls and having the variety of restaurants, supermarkets etc in Livingstone itself to visit.

Overall, our stay at Chanters (5 nights) was wonderful and we would highly recommend Chanters if you are looking at staying in Livingstone.

Thanks for the great review! It's a pity that due to new legislation we're no longer able to arrange visa waivers for visitors. We recommend you obtain visas prior to arrival but if not, do have cash US$ ready when you arrive at the border to pay for your visas.
Thanks again for the nice review.
