My wife, 12 year old son and I stayed at Chanter's for four days during our recent visit to Vic Falls. We were very pleased. The owner was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived in Livingstone (even though the flight was an hour late) and was kind enough to deliver us to the airport on our departure. He helped us make arrangements for rafting with a great company, horseback riding and a visit to the small, local, gamepark. He gave us honest reviews of local restaurants and drove us into town to help us find the ATM. I' ve never been treated like this at a five star hotel.

The rooms were fine, simple and clean. And air-conditioned. The pool is small but nice and never crowded - there's only a few rooms at the property so we had the pool to ourselves on most occasions.

The restaurant deserves special mention. The food isn't fancy but but it was excellent. Between us, we tried a goodly portion of the menu and and the food was consistently good. Be a bit patient waiting for the food - everything seems to be made up fresh. We only drank the SA Cabernet but it was very drinkable. Prices were very reasonable.

I suppose that I should try to write a more "balanced" review but, particularly given the price, I can find nothing to fault.

Five friends and I recently spent a couple of nights at Chanters Lodge. Absolutely nothing short of real "southern hospitality". Being from the US and the great state of Georgia, we were very much at home there! I wish our stay could have been longer. Having visited Zambia numerous times in the past, I have stayed at various hotels / lodges / guest houses, but none better than Chanter's. The accommodations were really good, the food was excellent, and the service was remarkable all for a very reasonable price! Everyone, from the moment we met Richard at the airport until we departed, was dedicated to making our stay comfortable and memorable...and it was just that! I will definitely reccomend you to my friends traveling your way.

Zambia offers a real mix of standards and prices for good accomodation. If you are visiting Livingstone to catch the falls and numerous other attractions and activities, Chanters offers a great base.

The accomodation is clean and everything you need is there. Richard the owner is a real help on local advice and can't do enough to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable.

Chanters also offers a great restaurant with superb menu. Really saves having to go out into Livingstone every evening, and the quality and service were excellent.

It was our first time in Zambia, and we thoroughly enjoyed out time, largely due to selecting a great place to lay our hats!

High recommended!

We stayed 6 nights at Chanters Lodge this August 2007. The rooms were clean and comfortable, service great and the meals at the restaurant were superb (servings are huge).
We stayed there because we had arranged to meet our friend, her daughter and granddaughter from Zimbabwe who also were staying at the Lodge.
Richard Chanter was a tremendous help in taking us down to the border - Zambia & Zimbabwe - on several occasions. The first time when we couldn't find them! His local knowledge was a huge bonus in more ways than one - finding our friends, taking us to the ATM's and money exchanges (should be classified as extreme sports!) also shopping at the local supermarkets and arranging tours etc. A true gentleman and we would have no hesitation in revisiting Chanter's Lodge.

Last year my family and i stayed for 5 nights at Chanters, and had the most fantastic time! So needless to say this year, after having won a trip to South Africa, there was no doubt that I would head back up to Livingstone. This time bringing my dad up with me.
While on my trip to South Africa some co-workers suggested that they would like to come up too. Well, within 3 days the owner Richard, had worked his tail off organizing visas, another room and another helicopter ride for my friends.... All this for us only staying one night! Thats not to mention picking us up at the airport, and playing taxi driver out to Vic Falls. I understand that the taxi side of things was an extra due to our short stay, but never the less was well appreciated. Also 2 trips back to the airport the next day for 2 separate departures. Well outside what i would expect from a normal accomodation house.
Once again, the stay was excellent-not long enough, the food was great, Richards company- as always-enjoyable - the staff friendly and welcoming-what a great place for a weary traveller.
Richard, cannot thank you enough for all your help!
Cheers
