“MAGNIFICENT VISIT TO ZAMBIA AT DAVID LIVINGSTONE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We spent four days at the fantastic David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa in Zambia on the Zambesi river bank.. Excellent service all round. Well worth a visit. Management and the team members are all extremely helpful and will to assist with everything that you need. The sundowner cruise on the Lady Livingstone and visit to Livingstone island is a must for all visitors.

Room Tip: All rooms are facing the mighty Zambesi.

a great hotel right on the Zambezi river and only 10-minute ride from Vic Falls. Sunset cruise (Lady Livingstone) was most popular here. Service was attentive. Room design is unique and has fantastic views of the river - crocs and hippos are spotted often, a little refurbishment would do wonder. Food is great, but the chef does need to work on the dessert menu.

We stayed at the David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa along in June 2013 with my parents who had travelled to Africa from Australia. We had a wonderful stay and I would recommend the lodge to any travellers.

The lodge is situated right on the bank of the Zambezi and in close proximity to both Livingstone and the Victoria Falls. I found the location fantastic and well placed for all of the activities (less than 10 mins to the falls, next door to one of the heli & microlight centres etc). The lodge facilities are lovely and the grounds are well maintained.

The staff were attentive, welcoming and kindly organised a cake and sang for my boyfriend who celebrated his birthday whilst we were at the lodge. The food was also very good, especially the extensive breakfast buffet (which the staff kindly kept open one morning until we returned from our early morning activity).

The only negative, which I noted from some of the other reviews prior to our trip, is that the food is expensive compared to elsewhere I have stayed in Africa. However, as we didn't venture outside of the lodge for meals I can't provide a cost comparison against other places at Vic Falls. Don't let that change your mind on staying at the lodge, but just be prepared!

We transferred to The David Livingstone from a sister hotel for 3 nights in January 2013. The Director, Keith Rissik and the hotel staff took it upon themselves to make sure our stay is flawless. The hotel is situated on the Zambezi River with magnificent views, the river boat dock is on the property, and the hotel is very close to the falls - you can actually see the clouds of mist hovering over the river. The grounds are very nice with breakfast areas on the bank of the river or under cover close by. The food was very good - the chef himself came by our table every evening to make sure the food is to our satisfaction.
Our King room was spacious with a comfortable bed including a beautifully set mosquito net tent. We had no mosquito bites throughout our stay.
We had a great memorable time and definitely recommend staying there

Booked in for a few days to celebrate a birthday.
The management and staff were fantastic and ensured that our stay was perfect
The staff were great. They had a genuine "Care Factor"
The rooms were good and clean
The views into the river and beyond we're fantastic
The food and Resturant were good. The BBQ held on the lawns / river bank was really good.
Well done to this hotel for their attention to details especially the manager Robert who was very hands on!
Highly recommended
Little note: the hotel should ensure all local staff use body deodorant including gardening and cleaning staff!!

We spent 2 nights here in June. We were disappointed to find so many mosquitoes in our room, and in the common areas at night (there is no indoor dining or lounge facility). We were even more disappointed to discover that the sheets and mattress pad smelled terribly of BO (ultimately we were transferred to another room). The food was pretty good but pricey (quality and value disappointing compared to the prior few days we had spent in South Africa). The sunset cruise on Lady Livingstone was nice, but other activities seemed cheesy and overpriced. We were happy to stay for 1-2 days to see the Falls and move on.

Our daughter and son-in-law chose this venue for their wedding in May. When we first saw the hotel our jaws dropped open, it is SO beautiful and the view of the Zambezi is amazing. Having said that, it is very close to Livingstone town and the Falls, unlike some of the other lodges which can involve a lengthy drive to get anywhere. We stayed three nights at the hotel, whilst other members of our family stayed up to a week and made the most of all that Livingstone has to offer. All the wedding party guests were accommodated in rooms in one area of the hotel which made things much easier for us all. The rooms were large and beautifully appointed with splendid views of the river. The monkeys were a bit of a nuisance if the balcony doors were not closed on leaving the room, but we were warned in advance by the staff to be careful about this. The wedding was perfect, with the ceremony held on a quiet grassy bank of the river away from the main hotel area, then post-ceremony drinks/speeches on a deck overlooking the Zambezi as the sun was setting over the river, and the spray of Victoria Falls could be seen in the background. Dinner (divine!) was served on the main dining deck which we had been allowed to decorate as our daughter wanted. The details were all managed to perfection by Robert, who ensured that everything ran to plan behind the scenes, leaving us to enjoy the day totally. To sum up the day: simple, stunning, romantic!! We could have happily stayed on to enjoy the hotel for much longer, but we had plans to move on to Chobe for a short safari with family. We have the most wonderful memories of the David Livingstone and will definitely return on our next trip to Zambia.

Room Tip: First floor recommended for views and quieter
