“A class of its own - heavenly resort not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I spent only a night as part of my recee trip to evaluate a suitable hotel for our regional sales recognition event. As soon as I set foot on the entrance of the hotel - I was swept away but it's majestic, calm and heavenly entrance at the lobby! As a spankingly new resort perched on the hill that overlooks the sea, the resort will wow any traveller who is looking for a heavenly escapade to rejuvenate your mind and soul. There is plan for a 3 star Michelin award winning restaurant due to open very soon. The furnishing is world class. It is as outstanding as the pangkor Laut resort in pangkor island in Malaysia. I'd love to come back and really soak in its charming ambience- this time not as a work trip but with my family and friends. Great Job intercontinental!

From Da Nang Airport, it takes abt 25 min by taxi to the Resort and you will have chance to encounter amazing landscape, but that's just "Appertizer" for your "Main Course" waiting at the end of the ride.
The Resort itself is a real "Work of Art", "State of the Art"... speechless....
From the entrance, your taxi will take another short ride to the Reception, first impression was you are being transfer to another world, very exclusive, very mystery. Along the path, there are greens well maintain and nicely cut mixed together, shadow from higher trees gave feeling of a jungle. And then the Reception which belong to HEAVEN level. From Reception area you can have a broad view of how the Resort are arranged.
Highest level is HEAVEN, lower down is SKY and so on EARTH and SEA. HEAVEN is obviously expensive due to high location, SEA is the next with Villa and sea access, the EARTH with Suites and SKY is at the end of the list.
Concierge area (lower floor of Reception) equipped with Wii, pool, play station.
Near by Reception is Citron Restaurant, where they host Sunday Brunch with live music, high tea, breakfast... The reversed conical hat seat is signature of Citron design but if you walk in to the restaurant, you will be "wow" with the design, airy, spacious, colonial, resort. Even the toilet has story of itself. So far, I tried all public toilets of the Resort and each of them have individual design and all of them are so fascinating decorated with different themes.
To travel from HEAVEN to other levels, there is outdoor lift "Nam Tram" which is always exciting to ride since you can enjoy the marvelous view from window. Other than Nam Tram, you can always travel around Resort by electric buggy drove by staffs, they are mostly available nearby. You can call them to come pick you up, or just try walking and enjoy the botanic design, breath the fresh air a bit and there they are.
Rooms are way too generously sized. The smallest room is bigger than 70sqm, the rest are from 80spm and Suites and Villa. Except the smallest room doesn't have balcony, all others have individual balcony with marble dining table where you can order Room Service and enjoy among Heaven. Room equipment are nothing else to expect: big LCD with interactive programs, Bose sound, ipod dock. Bathroom is way too fancy and luxury, rain shower is large and hot water is always ready. Bathroom amenity of Hermes, and you shouldn't bring any of your toiletry since they equipped top to toe. Room theme color is black and white, everything is brand new, room design and decoration is mixed between Oriental colonial and Western modern. Bed is large and comfort. Light system are well arranged with individual control or general control. Room with top to floor glass make the room even more spacious and very close to nature.
By the time we stayed, La Maison 1888 (French Restaurant) hasn't worked yet (it's opened by Michel Roux, could you believe that?) so we tried food at Barefoot Cafe at the Sea and Citron and food quality was quite impressive at the price that very reasonable, same price as other 5* in town hotel, while over here, they have to suffer both food transportation and reservation due to location.
Resort has abundant activities for guest in house: basket boat fishing, trekking, cycling, kayaking... And the staffs are always happy to help.
Gym with latest equipment, 2 pool, 1 infinity upon L_o_n_g Bar where you can enjoy the view and air of the sea and a ground pool with a bit of shadow.
The garden in Resort are well cared with blossoms and many species of plants make up a nice tropical garden that you will love to walk or cycle.
Those days in this Resort was surreal. Definitely come back for more.

I came here 2 times for lunch and dinner, the food is absolutely disaster. Fish soup was not cook well, still red inside.
I waited 30min for the drink and only waitress serve 17pax.
Second time, total disaster service. Staff never apologize when they do mistake, serve capuchino without sugar and water. Unbelievable!
You have to buy the voucher but the waiter asked me to pay cash and asked me to use it in another outlet. Ridiculous... And rest of money will not refundable.
Nerver come back...property is perfect, service is terrible!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, and 4 of our friends also joined for one night, and wow, we had a great weekend - I finally have a beach resort in Viet Nam with a reasonable price that I can recommend to friends. I've been to a few beach resorts in Viet Nam (e.g.Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Binh Dinh, Hue, etc) and they were nice also, but if I would go back again, the place would certainly be the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula. I would highly recommend this place to friends over other places in Viet Nam if they are looking for a beach resort in Viet Nam, as the place is so beautiful and unique.

It took about 30-40 minutes from the airport by taxi, and it was quite far from the city center but having been to Da Nang and Hoi An so many times, the fact that it was far from major tourist destinations was not a problem at all, and we truly enjoyed the beautiful setting in nature. There was no other properties nearby (unlike some parts of Da Nang along the coast that are lined up with many resorts), so I think that also makes this property special with the private beach.

We were impressed with this beautiful and unique property. I also liked Nam Tram (like a small cable car - connecting different levels of the property from the reception area to the beach level). We used it often together with the golf cart that can also take you around the property, enjoying the beautiful scenery and feeling the beautiful breeze. We had a standard room but the room was very spacious with a beautiful bathroom.

We enjoyed our time on the beach, joining some activities (e.g. basket boat lesson) and relaxing. We had a nice massage for one hour, and the hotel also has a very nice long pool (the Long Pool) as well as a children's pool. We also used the gym equipped with new and sufficient amount of machines/equipments. There was a big Game Corner with Pool Table and Wii stations although we didn't get to them. It seemed there was also a children's play room near the Long Bar although we didn't use it.

I did not have high expectation for food as these five star hotel chains pretty much offer the same thing everywhere, but we found some very delicious and unique dishes including deserts. I found the portion of some dishes (e.g. salads) small, and others quite big (e.g. sea food platter), and there were some dishes that I would have liked a little differently (e.g. I would like more tomato sauce and cheese for pizza), but in general we always had good meals. Two restaurants, Citron and Barefoot, were both open. I found the prices very reasonable. Heard that the French restaurant would open on 12/12/2012 - and I would love to try that place next time. We were also happy with breakfast - many types of fruits, fresh fruit juices, cafe latte coming with different cafe late art for every cup, and nice Pho Chicken Noodle soup, and of course a beautiful view. Noticed that cheese and ham selection was meager if someone likes them for breakfast.

As some other trip advisor travelers mentioned, this place is still in the process of finalization, and there are many areas for improvements. And that is the reason I rate this place "very good" instead of "excellent". There were some issues (some basic ones) with the Safety Box and TV not working, etc and technicians had to come fix. In instances where staff couldn't understand what we were requesting (e.g. at the restaurants), another staff with better English was called right away to understand and respond to our requests. Despite these issues, we remained with positive impression as the staff had the right attitude and they worked hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

For those who come to Da Nang for the first time and are interested in staying in this resort, my recommendation would be to stay at least for 3 nights so that there is enough time to go see Hoi An (there was a free shuttle from Hotel to Hoi An and to the City Center), and there is also time to relax at the resort.

What made our trip so great was also the weather. Luckily we had sunny days with clear sky, beautiful ocean, and pleasant temperature.

I had Sunday brunch with two friends, it was fantastic. Excellent value for the money. Make a reservation. Full on lunch buffet with good champagne, worth every penny. Great view, and very good service. Located up on the hill, really very nice way to spend a Sunday in Danang.
I'd go back, anytime!

This is a stunning property. A sanctuary above the sea surrounded by palms and backed by lush of coconut fields. The lobby is located at the highest level of the resort, in a traditional Vietnamese house. Welcome drink and cold towel were served upon arrival. Check-in took a short while & I was escorted by the PR Ms Nguyen to my room by 2 modes of transportation. 1. The Nam Tram and 2. The buggy

My Premier room was huge, well appointed, elegantly decorated incorporated with a bend of Vietnamese. The theme color of the room is the classic black & white. The room is smartly designed in a way the workstation is separated from the bedroom area. The traditional style ward rode reminded you are now in Vietnam. The bathroom is big with double vanities. Soaking in the stand-alone bathtub with a view outside is a bonus. The floor to ceiling window with fabulous views of the south sea and the balcony must be the biggest I had ever encountered.

The elegant French influences of the Cirton restaurant next to the lobby offer refined dining. Both the decors and views of the restaurant are superb. Of course the staffs are on hand to fulfill your every need. The long bar by the beach is a nice place to hang around and likewise the unique Barefoot restaurant was a nice dining experience.

The resort offer outstanding recreational activities. There are 2 swimming pools, a fitness centre, a spa and an array of recreation activities and free shuttle services ensuring that the guests are occupied.

This is an ideal place for relaxation. The superb service, unique adventures and a rich history nearby are waiting to be explored.

A beautiful hotel that is a touch 'out of this world'. The construction, setting and decor is first rate. The service levels were patchy, but the attitude by the staff we spot on, and they will only improve. With a 3 star Michellin Restaurant opening on 12/12/12, a yoga room and a dedicated Spa (presently they are using a converted room) opening soon, I am already booked to go back in 6 weeks. Probably my favourite hotel of all time.
