“A slice of heaven on China Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We made our first visit to this area and chose to stay at Fusion Mai after reading about it several years ago. The resort is beautiful with an expansive beachfront that had extremely clean and clear water. The facility is first rate with a great set of pools, nice spa, and comfortable pool & beach loungers. We traveled the end of September so it was the low season for visitors as many have children in school. We were told the busier period was the summer season leading up to September. So we really had the resort to ourselves as the guests are primarily couples and everyone is on such a different schedule you do not notice a lot of people. We loved the infinity pool and beach. One of the best we have seen in Asia as you could walk for hours. The area is still being built up as the entire beachfront is still in a beginning stage of development. I can imagine in 5+ years this area might look quite different. We read a lot of reviews from others about the lack of food choices. To be honest we did not find that an issue. We alternated nights at the resort and in Hoi An (stayed 6 nights) and each time had something totally different whether it was lunch at the pool and beach bar or the main dining room for dinner. I have to say the food at dinner was excellent. A great wine selection and in my opinion everything was quite reasonable given the caliber of resort we stayed in. You cannot compare the resort restaurant prices to those at some of the restaurants in Hoi An. They are different. Breakfast was wonderful with a large selection of local and western food along with many styles of coffee to enjoy. It was one of the nicest breakfast buffets we have found in Asia. The pool villa rooms are spacious and comfortable. No complaints at all with the comfort and style of the rooms. There were small details that a resort like this should pay more attention to, but they are not ones that will overshadow our experience and take away from a great vacation so I do not even need to mention them here. Overall I highly recommend the resort.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful, in every way. The service was impeccable, friendly and competant! The food was outstanding, the surrounds beautiful and the rooms to die for. The all-inclusive spa treatment is a wonderful idea and I can't wait to return to this place. Please, when you visit this beautiful country, treat the staff and locals with the respect they deserve, and tip accordingly! A few dollars here and there for good service is not much to pay, and can make a huge difference to the living standards of the staff and their families.

Room Tip: I don't think there are any bad ones....perhaps away from the main road as much as possible is t...

I have recently returned from an 11 night stay at Fusion Maia and to say that we didn't want to leave is a MASSIVE understatement! For the record, I work in Luxury Travel and this trip was purely a holiday, so this is an unbiased review, but one based on a lot of experience of luxury properties and excellent service.

I travelled with a friend and we were both in desperate need of a relaxing, nurturing holiday, having had a year of ups and downs - and a very busy few months at work. Arriving at Fusion Maia felt like we could completely leave stress at the door and we settled in straight away due to the welcoming staff, relaxing and zen-like surroundings, super-comfortable rooms (no 'form over function' issues here!), and utterly breathtaking location right on one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.

The Management of the hotel ensures that staff are well-looked after and brilliantly trained - which results in the staff being happy in their work, which in turn reflects on the service they give - they are all so friendly and welcoming, very warm and caring, and can't do too much for you. They are also all so eager to improve their English and love to chat - and I can't stress enough how much it makes a difference in Vietnam to learn even a few words of Vietnamese. Our efforts to master 'hello', 'good bye', ‘please’, 'thank you very much' and some basic counting were met with massive smiles and giggles every day (or maybe it was just our attempts at pronunciation!). In fact the staff were so smiley, that our cheeks would ache from returning the smiles of everyone we passed every day, but staying somewhere like this does make it very easy to smile a lot!

The breakfasts here are to-die-for (and as a breakfast obsessive, I don't give this praise lightly) - and, although slightly more expensive than some of the food we ate outside the hotel, other food in the hotel was still excellent value for money and absolutely delicious. We especially loved the juices, salads and light Vietnamese dishes served at the restaurant by the pool. But one of the benefits of the complementary busses into Hoi An does mean that eating out is not only possible, but encouraged.

General attention to detail and presentation here is excellent. It feels like there are hundreds of comfy chairs in secluded spots around the hotel to find and relax in, your needs are very much anticipated - I had a lovely doze in one of the shady day beds by the pool! Both the main swimming pool and the spa swimming pool are amongst the nicest places I've ever swum, and are kept absolutely immaculately, as are the extensive beautiful gardens and all of the outside and communal areas.

The pool villas are great - really spacious and so lovely to have your own pool, even though they're not big, they're so private and it feels like a real luxury - lovely for a little cooling midnight dip before bed, and the other 2 pools are more than big enough! We had an extra bed in our room as we are friends rather than a couple and there was TONS of room, and I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel as a great place for girl-friends to go for a relaxing girly holiday - plenty of lovely food, chilling out and spa treatments - perfect! Whilst I agree that this hotel is absolute heaven for couples and honeymooners, it shouldn't be overlooked for friends and mums/ daughters. The only thing to bear in mind is that bathrooms are very much designed for couples - there's no privacy really - just something to bear in mind but it wasn't a problem. The hotel is very cleverly designed that you don’t really see the villas from all of the general spaces, so it really doesn’t feel like you’re in a hotel – just a lovely garden with your own villa a short walk away.

The Spa is not only beautifully designed, but the staff are excellent and the concept of all-inclusive spa treatments really did give us that much-needed extra relaxing and nurturing aspect to our holiday that we so needed, and we also loved the 7-day programme with a different theme and activities that you could opt into each day.

We met some really lovely people at the hotel – other guests there on holidays and honeymoons – it felt like the hotel is so nice that it seems to attract nice people! Although I have been to more ‘sophisticated’ luxury properties, Fusion Maia is contemporary, fresh, very comfortable, so relaxed, peaceful and welcoming – and excellent value for money. Really worth mentioning is the location – it’s fabulous, right on the beach, but within easy reach of both the convenience of Da Nang and the lovely town of Hoi An. However, it’s the warmth and attitude of the staff that really makes this place stand out. I’d return in a heart-beat and will be dreaming about the views from the pool, comfortable beds and home-made granola for many, many months to come!

My friends and I wanted a care-free, relaxing holiday and decided on fusion maia, danang. Goodness, this is the best-ever decision we have made.
Check-in: seamless and done at the lounge area. The chap patiently explained the terrains, stay-in details. Within mins, we are already inside our lovely resort.
Villa: it is well maintained. No ants nor stains spotted. The big kingsized post bed is comfortable. All necessary toiletries are included. The only problem we faced is the location of the tv. It is placed viewable from the bed but not the living couch. This posed as a problem when we just wanna watch tv and chill with food and wine.oh, one thing to note, the hotel adopted a zen design and thus, there is no door to toilet/shower/tub area. Definitely good for couples but as 3 female travelling friends, we were awkward initially. Nonetheless, we got over it and managed a systematic way to avoid each other if we are gonna use the toilet or shower area.
Plunge pool within villa - good size but more for "playing with water" than a proper swim.
Common pool - fantastic size and cool surroundings. There is a booth-like lazy bed where you can just rot there for the afternoon with your fav book/music. If not, just admire the blue sky, swaying coconut and tranquil sea (our fav spot).
Transport to hoi an: theres only 3 timings to old town but it is sufficient for you to plan a day or night trip there. Hotel even gave recommendation on a list of food and shopping venues which you can try. Best of all, fusion maia has a lounge right in the middle of hoi an, whenever you are tired or needed a comfortable place to take a break while waiting for your transport, you could enjoy complimentary massage treatments.
Complimentary spa treatments - this is the best ever. Although standard treatments do vary from masseurs to masseurs, the basic standard is still great. They are gentle and attentive. Will sit there and wait for you to wake up from your nap.
Breakfast - therez ala carte (till 6pm) and buffet selection (till 10am). You wont have to worry about waking up and missing the timings. Best, you can opt to have your breakfast anywhere, be it in your room or at the pool. Last but not least,.you can even have it at the lounge at hoi an town (after taking transport)if you so decide to start your day early there.
I only have praises for this hotel. Kudos to the management whom understands what a customer wants. I will definitely be back soon, very soon.

Our pool villa is lovely, clean and spacious. Facility is well kept and surrounding is all up to expectations. The beach front infinity main pool is spectacular. Beach is beautiful with very fine sand.
Avoid villa at the back, or near the guard house; it’s rather noisy as sometimes you can hear vehicles passing by, and it’s near to the staff quarters.
The range of choices for spa treatment is also very limited, and for a rather short duration of time for only about 30-45 mins. To me its too short to enjoy a really good massage or facial. Main reception area of the spa is rather crowded and noisy, I hardly see any smiles on the face of the receptionist; they were always busy checking on their schedule and talking on the line, which have done no help on the already chaotic and noisy atmosphere of the spa. Other than the two minimum services I have booked, no luck for me to get any more spa treatments, requested to put under waiting list but looking at the tired and impatient face of the receptionist you know it’s a mission impossible.
As for the service of the staffs, there’s still room for improvement. Staffs should be more attentive to the needs of customers. We have requested special arrangement for one of my friends for her breakfast, however, we were extremely disappointed to note that even though we have stressed many times about her diet restrictions, certain thing that she need to avoid still served to her. We felt extremely sorry for her about this.
Overall, a very good resort, up to 5 star expectations, but more training for the staffs is definitely needed.

The Fusion Maia resort is one of the newest hotel on Truong Sa Street along the beautiful beach. This is our first time to Da Nang so we wanted something nice for our 15th wedding anniversary. The resort meets our needs for 2 days of relaxation and privacy.

Overall, we really like our stay at the resort but don't feel like it meets 5-stars standard. Here are my own experiences with the pros and cons during our stay in Aug 2012. I hope that the hotel management will make further improvements so we can come back on our next trip to Da Nang.

1. Check-in service was quick and the staff was willing to accommodate our request for a room change.
2. The room is big for 2 person with private pool and outdoor patio.
3. The facility is well kept. Staffs were always taking care of the trees and the walkway.
4. Breakfast was good with variety of choices from Western to Asian.

1. Honeymoon cake was given to us instead of Happy Anniversary.
2. Body massage service was okay as the staffs seem to be new.
3. Dinner service was NOT professional as the server is standing around and chit chat while we were eating.
4. Shuttle trip to Hoi An for 30 minutes was not pleasant with over crowded guests.

Room Tip: Better room rate with 5-year VN Visa. Call the reservation desk and ask for it.

We stayed at the Fusion Maia in Danang at the beginning of July 2012, the first thing to mention is that the Vietnam Airlines flight out of Gatwick was OK, seats were comfortable enough and the food was pretty decent, they also have a great luggage allowance of 30kgs and 7kgs hand luggage (quite strict on the hand luggage)..

The Fusion Maia is an all Pool Villa resort about 10 minutes from Danang town where there are a few ‘local’ restaurants, the area is being developed at the moment but we couldn’t tell once inside the resort. They offer shuttle services to Hoi An but the times mean you are there for about 4 hours which is sometimes to long just for an evening meal, there are taxis available and they are approx. $25USD each way (as you can use the Fusion lounge at Hoi An to wait for the shuttle you may meet others who are willing to share a taxi back earlier to cut down the cost)..

There are 2 dining options, Five and Fresh and both offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. A snack and beer came to £10 – 15 each and a 2 course A La Carte meal with a couple of beers came to between £20-30 each and the food was of a very good standard, wine started at around £20 a bottle so not too bad.

There are 2 spa treatments guaranteed daily and more available if they have space, we only had a couple of treatments but they were really good..

The Pool Villas are really nice and spacious and the gardens are totally private but do tend to get quite hot as there is no breeze getting in, the pool was a good size and was the temperature of a warm bath, if your own garden/pool gets too warm the main pool area is lovely as its right on the beach front so gets some lovely sea breezes..

The weather was a bit stormy for the first couple of days but it only rained for short sharp bursts and then it was ‘hot ‘getting up to 40 degrees most days, this is quite normal in the Central region of Vietnam (Nha Trang, Hoi An, Danang & Hue) where the weather is good from May through to early/mid-September then it gets cool and very wet from November through to March.
The other thing that we noticed was that the humidity was quite low…

We chatted to Michelle the GM about the new Fusion Alya due to open in Hoi An in November and this will be based around ‘Eating’ as all meals are included with cooking classes and local market shopping trips, visit local farmers, it will be offered on Full Board but not All Inclusive as drinks are not included..

I personally think a week at both resorts would make a brilliant holiday..
