“Big hotel with atmosphere of a small hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

We arrived early on a night bus and had pre arranged pick up. Because we were so early they treated us to a free breakfast.
When talking about the town, tripsa and places to go they weren't pushy at all and actually said we didn't need to do one temple trip if we had done angkor wat in Cambodia.
The staff make a point of remembering your name and having a conversation as you pass through the lobby.
Nice pool to relax in but it only gets the sun from late morning onwards. Good happy hour deals.
The old town was walkable in 10/15 minutes but a taxi there or back only cost 20,000 dong.
By the way, do your laundry here, it smells amazing!
Overall a great place to stay!

The staff at Hai Au really went out of their way to make our stay here excellent. Great service and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms & beds very big which was great for our family! Highly recommend this hotel. Excellent service at a good price!

We stayed 4 nights at this lovely hotel, and would definitely stay here again if we visit hoi an. As previous reviews state, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and make a conscious effort to remember your name. We didn't think the hotel was that dated - our room was modern with a balcony, flat screen tv, and very very clean. It felt more like a homely bedroom than a hotel. When we arrived the staff had sprinkled rose petals on the bed and arranged the towels like swans, which was extremely cute! They also provided free water and free fresh fruit in the room. The breakfast buffet was good, with a large selection of breads and fruit. The hotel was barely a ten minute walk to hoi an old town, and 3.5 km to the beach. my boyfriend and I walked one day but it was around 45minutes on foot, so best to rent the bicycles from the hotel( $2 for 2 bikes ) and cycle there in 10 minutes! Finally this hotel had a very nice pool, small but extremely private - we had the pool and loungers all to ourselves one day. Towels also provided. Very surprised how good this hotel was for the bargain price we paid, I highly recommend this hotel.

The room is worn out in the sense that old and not attractive. Clean though. BUT, you have superb breakfast and very helpful staff. Location wise it is 15 mins walk to the center. If only they redecorate the room, then it would be perfect.

This is a very nice, albeit a bit old / tired hotel in a very convenient location (if you mainly want to explore the ancient town or book day trips, the beach is about 4km away). The rooms are more than adequate for the money you pay, the breakfast buffet is a bit more than just 'ok', but great for this price range. The rooms could use some updating, especially in terms of electric wiring, not enough outlets, the TV, DVD player, fridge and water kettle have to share 2 outlets, hardly any chance to plug in chargers. But the room we had was nicely appointed and had a very cute balcony (not the prettiest view, but hey :) )

From the moment we entered the hotel, we felt most welcome by the charming reception staff who within minutes had memorized our names. They were helpful with everything, always smiling. They also did an impromptu karaoke with my son behind the hotel counter, we all had a great laugh.

While normally I would have given this hotel only 4 stars, reception staff like this makes all the difference from check in to check out. They are obviously well trained, motivated and all spoke very good English. This is why in the end they deserve 5 stars.

Room Tip: no elevator, if stairs bug you, go for lower floor.

We spent 2 nights at the Hai Au hotel in Hoi An and had a fabulous experience. The room was spacious with a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee provided and petals strewn on the bed. The bathroom was excellent as well and the whole place was clean when we arrived and serviced while we were out the next day.

Breakfast was included which was buffet style and there was a huge amount of choice and plenty of vegetarian options. You could request to have your eggs cooked however you liked.

There was a pool at the hotel which we didn't use but looked lovely, if a bit small, and seemed to be quiet most of the time.

The hotel was a little far from the city centre but provided bicycle rental for $1 a day which we made use of and meant we were in the centre in no time. I highly recommend cycling in Hoi An, it's a great way to get around!

We had been planning to get the train from Hoi An to Hanoi but when we went to reception to ask for a timetable they gave us some information about the cost and length of the trip and suggested we fly instead. Within minutes we had a flight booked for a reasonable price and a private car organised to get us to the airport in Danang the next day. The staff were not pushy, they were incredibly helpful and informative and we're grateful to them for saving is so much time and making our trip easier! They were always friendly and remembered our names, did our laundry cheaply for us and were just generally a pleasure to deal with. They definitely made our visit to Hoi An even more enjoyable and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Stayed here for two nights as a group of 14 and we found it to be very comfortable and the staff were lovely. Beds and bathrooms were excellent, rooms were quiet, meals very nice, and the pool was very popular with us Aussies. The staff even put on a breakfast for us at 3.00 am so that we could eat before our flight.
