“Just a solid, quality stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2011

My wife and I have lived in Vietnam for over year now and have stayed in a number of hotels. This was definitely our favorite so far. We went to Hoi An for the weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. I wanted to stay in a nice hotel but not one that would break our budget. Some hotels in Hoi An are simply more expensive because they know that most tourists will find it cheap in comparison to their home countries. They aren't necessarily any better quality.

The suite was excellent. It had a small living room area with a couch, two chairs and a table. The bed was wonderfully soft.

First of all, they upgraded our room to the suite (for the same price) because the other rooms were full. When they found out it was my wife's birthday, they had a birthday cake waiting for us at the counter with my wife's name on it.

The hotel is about 5-10 minutes (by motorbike) away from the center of town. So if you don't have your own means of transportation you have to rely on their shuttle service or other means of transportation. It is a bit too far to walk. The location is quiet and has nice views of the surrounding rice fields.

The breakfast buffet was great! We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant but the menu looked great and the prices were reasonable.

We'll definitely stay there again!

Stayed with my husband and our friends we were travelling with. Hotels was booked for us by our Tour Company - Asiatica-Travel - very happy being booked into this hotel - Room was spacious (side of hotel) with lovely views of the Rice Paddies - so green. Breakfast in Restaurant on top floor of hotel, stunning views of the river - very nice buffet breakfast, with good selection of Western and Asian foods. Hotel offered shuttle service to and from town, which we made use of, plus also used the local taxi for one return journey - very cheap. Had some tailoring done in Hoi An Old Quarter - impressed with the quality. Hotel offers bicycles which you can use to ride to the beach which is not too far away from the Hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed the pool, especially after a hot day out, so nice to come and take a dip and relax. Staff very friendly. Would definitely go back to the Phuoc An River Hotel.

Had a wonderful stay at the Phuoc An River Hotel late this September. The staff was very helpful: they gave us good directions to town, stored our bags for the day after we checked out, did laundry for very reasonable rates and even arranged transportation for us back to the Da Nang airport at the end of our stay (which was much more affordable than our taxi ride there). Free wireless internet from the restaurant was also a plus! There are some shops and food nearby but it's a little way from the heart of Hoi An but the hotel has a fleet of bikes they lend out for free and are very convenient and pleasant for getting around town in the heat of the day. There is also a shuttle bus to / from town at certain times of the day but I highly recommend the bikes if you want a true Vietnam experience. Room was very clean, with the slight exception of a shower mat that was a bit grubby but otherwise top-notch. We had a view of the farmland nearby and could see water buffalo out the window. On the other side you would have a view of the river. Breakfast was also very good and had a selection of continental items, fruit and made to order hot Vietnamese or Western food, you definitely would not go hungry. Overall, a highly recommended place to stay in Hoi An!

We stayed at the Phuoc An River Hotel for22 nights in August 10 and had a lovely time. Staff are fantastic, especially Cu and Twen (sorry spelling is probably wrong). Room was great as was the great buffet breakfast each day. This was our second stay at this hotel and it will definiately not be our last.

The staff in the phuoc an River hotel were Fantastic. They couldn't do enough for us. They even stayed back late after work to assist us with a problem. They made us feel at home . Eventhough the hotel is closer to the beach than town,we felt it was peaceful. The free blkes made the experience even better. We would go to the beach and get the free shuttle bus into town in the evening. The pool was a great amenity. There is a cute riverside bar accross the road also. We stayed in a rice field room and experienced no traffic noise. The breakfasts were delicious. It was a fantastic hotel!

We stayed only one night at the Phuoc An River, but were very impressed by what we got for the money.

We were picked up at the Da Nang airport without a hitch. The driver was very nice, spoke little English but pointed out some sights along the way. It took only 45 minutes to get to the hotel.

The front desk staff was very personable; one guy was very funny, had a real colorful personality. They have a large lobby with couches and Internet stations. We had booked a room for the online-only rate of $41, which I noticed was substantially less than the advertised room rates in the lobby.

Our room was sizeable. We had a river view with a small balcony that looked out over the main, two-lane road and the palm-fringed river. Very nice bathroom and shower. The breakfast buffet on the rooftop restaurant featured everything you’d want. I wouldn’t pick this place for the outdoor pool, which is kind of shoehorned into a sterile space off the third floor, if I remember right. Fine for a quick swim, but not lounging poolside.

The free shuttle times into town aren’t ideal, but they were similar to another hotel outside town we stayed at, and a taxi costs only $2.50. And it’s close to Cua Dai beach.

We only spent a night here because of other bookings, and we spent most of that time in town. There are dozens of hotels in Hoi An, but based on three places we stayed and given the price we paid, this place is a good choice.
