“A nice but so-so choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

First impressions: This is the second of three related hotels in the area. The lobby is quite small, but it is bright and airy. Catching sight of the pool after a long ride was an added bonus. In fact, the rooms are arranged surrounding the pool area in the middle of the property. Averaging 23 GBP pp per night, it is good value for its 3-star rating. Grade B.

Pros: Not necessarily the cheapest, but it is good value for what you get. Rooms are spacious. Some rooms have balconies that face the pool. Having free internet access via two computers in the lobby, complimentary buffet breakfast (with a short-order cook to make omelettes) & parking doesn't hurt either. Desk service is OK. They can exchange money, keep valuables in a safe or else arrange laundry services. One even personally arranged for me to rent a bicycle.

Cons: Location is not its best feature. The hotel is not exactly at the center of town, but it is a leisurely walk to the restaurants and the river. However, it is close enough to a clothier (A Dong Silk) around the corner at Le Loi Street, a bank/ATM machine (two blocks), 3 massage parlors, and smaller stores. Staff service can be a hit-or-miss affair. One day, service is excellent. The next day, they are indifferent. Same is true with housekeeping. A few are not fluent in English. The buffet breakfast, though adequate, is nothing to write home about.

Verdict: So there you are... this budget hotel is acceptable, but average. Good value for what you get. I would not necessarily discourage you from choosing this hotel, just don't expect too much.

Room Tip: Choose the north-oriented, upper-floor rooms with a balcony. That way, you are away from traffic noi...

Very friendly staff, breakfast excellent and room very good. Nice swimming pool to take a plunge in the late afternoon. Hotel situated in center of the great village and all restaurants and shops within walking distance. Good to go by bike to the beach.

Nice clean centrally located hotel. Great pool, nice food.
In our room we had a few problems, While watching TV if you turned on the air conditioning or bathroom lights, or a combination of the above, the light fuses / circuit breakers would go.
Very annoying.
The other main problem was not water pressure or no hot water or water at all several times.

Stayed here for 4 nights, having moved from Ving Hung 3 as they were fully booked. As a comparison I would say this is better value, rooms more modern with nice balconies looking down onto the street, also has a very nice pool. The staff are nice and friendly, not as good as staff at VH 3 but still ok. The breakfast was just like any other in Vietnam, nothing great but does the job.. Will stay here again when I come back

Spacious room, big comfortable bed, nice size bathroom. Their included breakfast is a choice of both asian & western food. The wi-fi was excellent & free! The hotel is large & airy. It's only 15 minute walk to restaurant row by the river. Being wedged between two busy roads it can cop a lot of traffic noise. The staff try their hardest to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Ask for a room at the back as they're much quieter you get a balcony over-looking over the pool,. All good.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the back as they are quieter.

The hotel rooms are ok for the price paid. No problems with the beds as they were the most comfortable we have slept in so far in Vietnam (not rock hard). The location is good. Free wi fi in room, but it kept dropping out a lot and could get frustrating, at times.
The pool was nice and warm and inviting. I cant swim in most pools in hotels as they are freezing.
Balcony was a decent size and had seats and a table on it.
The air conditioning in our room wasn’t adequate. Worked fine in the mornings and during the night. But our room was in the sun all afternoon. During the afternoon we couldn’t cool the room down to a comfortable temperature.
Apart from these few things, I have no complaints about the rooms. Breakfast was just ok. If the lady in there could learn to smile and look like she cared, then it would be an improvement.
The only thing that let this hotel down was the staff. They weren’t horrible, but indifferent, paid to do a job and that was it.

On Sunday we just wanted to relax and have some peace and quiet by the pool. The breakfast room/restaurant opens up onto the pool area. But the staff from the hotel, initially four of them then 1 or 2 more joined them in the double door way ( 2 metres from the pool), talking away to each other. They did not talk quietly. They yelled and screamed at each other even though they were only a few feet apart. We were forced to go back to our room as telling them to go away made no difference. the staff lacked people skills, definitely no consideration towards their customers.

Room Tip: If you room has the sun all afternoon, check the to see if the air conditioner works adequately in t...
