“What a great surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

The Hoi An Trails was a great surprise in the middle of a hot and humid trip! Our group loved it! The rooms were spacious, clean, and cool, with very comfortable beds and large bathrooms. Our room featured a large tiled veranda from which we could peruse the activity around the courtyard. The pool is small but adequate for the number of guests hanging aroung throughout the day. Being August, the hotel was not very busy so we had access to everything and waited for nothing. The breakfast is good and offers a variety of both Western and Vietnamese items. We didn't try the Spa but the weightroom, while offering a great view of the neighboring rice paddy, is in terrible condition. None of the equipment works and there are no free weights. A nice feature are the complimentary bikes that you can book through the front counter. We borrowed the bikes on two occasions to explore the old quarter of Hoi An and the beach. Both are vey close to the hotel and a short easy bike ride down a relatively quiet street. We stayed only two nights but on our next trip we will undoubtedly stay longer.

Confirmed airport pickup . Forget it no one came. So take taxi and this little peanut thought we didnt know where we were going Secretly have been to HOI AN 4 times and love it very much. So after a bit of round the merry go round to get the metre up a bit I decided to pull him up and get out with wife and luggage . Well suddenly he spoke english and new where Trails Resort was. This hotel and that is it as it is not a resort. Everything is very tired and needs a face lift. There are far better hotels than this and we only went there because of the word resort. Breakfast well why is it that you cant get hot food . Cold seems to be the norm at this hotel unless you get eggs cooked. You guessed it thats the way we went. The lady over the road does good laundry and is cheap. If you want a drink around the pool best of luck. The service here is poor. The hotel is out of town but 30,000 dong with tip will get you either way. But if your doing this 4 times a day WELL... Who cares your on holiday

The Hoi An Trails was a real surprise for us as we booked without looking too much into the resort. The room was massive and airconditioning super effective, which was very welcome after a hot day at the beach or riding bikes into town. Though the hotel did have its drawbacks, the hot water stopped working temporarily and we had two double beds pushed together rather than a king, the service was excellent. Staff came immediately to fix the hot water, we were supplied a DVD player on request, also very quickly. The staff held our bags after checkout on the day we were to leave. The great service may be due to the lack of people around the resort (we travelled in the off season: July) as we virtually had the pool etc to ourselves on some occassions.

Pool was amazing and a real treat. Massages were overpriced, just pop down the road instead (you come to expect this in resorts).

This place is great!, okay it helps being in one of the most beautiful places in the world, but we got an upgrade to a suite. What can i say, its the size of a house, beautiful decor, spa, massive bathroom, clean and modern. Bar area in the central part of the grounds is excellent, pool is great, breakfast buffet was all good. The staff were helpful and great fun, we had a blast trying to communicate in our respective languages, was sad to to leave this place after only a couple of nights it was a delight.

Our travel agent booked a family suite for us for two nights. Once we got there, we took one look at our accommodation and we request a switch right away. The family suite is located on the upper floor of same building as the front desk and no lift). We got two adjacent rooms on the ground floor instead (not interconnected). The rooms on the ground floor are not better but at least, they are facing the pool. This resort does not have a good layout therefore the rooms are not very private. We had our shades down the whole time . Buffet breakfast served in the a/c dining hall. A/C is on only when there are guests. So, come in late for breakfast if you don't want to eat your food in the heat. Stay away from the dairy product if you can ( The diary product left out in the open with no ice to chill) There is a shuttle that takes you to the beach or the town every two hours (nice but not necessary because the taxi fare will cost no more $2-3 per trip.) . You can get your laundry done across the street of the resort (40,000 dong per kilo ). Overall, I rated this resort as a B-. The service is not as attentive as I like and the porters are too quick to stick out their hand for tips.
The town Hoi An itself is too touristy for my taste. Most old houses are now converted souvenir shops.

You can't go wrong here. Ignore all the whinging about the breakfast buffet; it is great. In Vietnam all foods are kept at room temperature (including raw meats). It's Vietnam for gods sake!!! Lovely service - I got a cake and special message for my birthday. The little touches. Awesome massage and swimming pool. Just a great spot to escape the frantic nature of Vietnam. Would stay there again. My only negative would be the lack of attention from the staff. I always found myself having to get their attention to order something, rather than they asking me if I would like something. Some people may like this "hands off" approach though!!

This is the kind of hotel that could be much better with a little bit of attention from the staff.

Overal: nice, clean rooms, pool and restaurant.

Breakfast is served in airconditioned restauarant, but the food itself is in the hotel lobby. As there is no ac and the space is open, we saw a lot of insects. Could be better. Somethings tasted dry/old (bread etc.)

When we stayed in this hotel, it was lowseason. It looks like they had too much staff at work, which results in groups of them standing togehteher and having fun in stead of serving guests. If we asked for something, they would arrange it quit fast, but the fact that we had to ask or go looking for someone kept bothering us. Not what you expect from a 4 star resort (and escpecially not in Vietnam!)!

Would we reccomend this hotel? Yes, if you like a nice place to stay in between the city and the beach.

O, before we forget: bikes at the hotel are in bad shape, try to rent one across the street with the nice lady (I've forgotten her name), perhaps you even get a hug! ;-)
