“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2010

Fantastic hotel just on the old quarter. Lovely quiet rooms overlooking a garden courtyard. Beautifully presented rooms with a balcony, fruit, wine etc. Breakfast was amazing!! Best place we stayed in Vietnam!

Lovely hotel with rooms round a courtyard. The rooms are large with a private patio or balcony. The location is within easy walking distance of the old town and the Lonely Planet walking tour goes right past the hotel. Plenty of good restaurants within easy reach.

Beautiful setting with lovely garden. We had a superior garden view room which definitely is not regretted. Excellent breakfast buffet. Attentive hotel staff overall. Only negative point worth mentioning is the chaotic booking procedure... they did not or only with a great delay respond to our emails.

The staff at our hotel in Hanoi recommended Ha An, so we didn't know much about it other than what we found on Tripadvisor—and we absolutely loved it! We only planned to stay two days, but fell in love with Hoi An and each day kept extending our stay so we were there five days.

The rooms are fabulous, and plenty spacious. Comfy beds, very clean, fresh flowers, kettle, computer with internet access, TV, fridge, they bring bottled water and fruit daily. We stayed in rooms 106 (negotiated a rate of $65) and 205 ($75)--both had a garden view and porch with chairs and a small table outside the room. We especially loved room 205--it shares no walls, and is on the second floor overlooking the garden which is really lovely. Nice to sit on your porch and read or just relax--definitely worth a few dollars more. Breakfast is included.

The location was perfect for us. They have bikes you can borrow (for free), so we just rode around town everyday. Hoi An also has a beach area that's about a 10-minute taxi ride or 20-minute bike ride away, and not knowing anything about how the city's laid out, we almost stayed near the beach but are so glad we didn't. We found Hoi An completely charming and lovely, and were glad we were near the center of town.

And the staff is really friendly. I seriously loved this laid back town so much that I could've spent our entire two-week trip here! Definitely coming back someday.

I stayed at the Ha An Hotel for two nights with my parents in October 2010. We had already been in Ho Chi Minh, Hue and down the Mekong. This hotel BY FAR exceeded our expectations in all areas. It is beautifully laid out, with a large courtyard garden to receive you and recently renovated French colonial style buildings all around. The rooms are a little small, but with every amenity you could possibly want - including a small complimentary bottle of wine! Everything about this place was great - they had a wonderful buffet breakfast each morning, bicycles to take (for free) when we wanted to ride to the beach and extremely helpful staff to assist us in anything we needed. I plan to go back to Hoi An again, and I will definitely stay at this hotel!

My wife and I arrived at DaNang airport late at night not knowing what to expect. Our taxi ride to Hoi An was a blur as we were both a bit sleepy and nervous. I've had my share of lack luster hotel stays and was half expecting another one. Finally, we reached the town and weaved through the streets lined with beautiful buildings. The town is a world heritage site, and it's no wonder once you've seen it.

We rounded a corner and came to a stop, greeted by a friendly porter who escorted us through a courtyard full of palms and ambient lights to the hotel lobby. Our room, as most of them at the hotel, opened up into the courtyard. The room itself was very clean and tastefully decorated. Flower petals and a complimentary basket of local fruit were amongst the details making the experience delightful.

It didn't end there. We went back outside to enjoy the best buffet either of us had ever had. One of the lovely hotel employees walked us through and described each dish in detail. Needless to say, we had a fantastic first night.

The following days were just as good. We took advantage of the hotel's free bicycle rentals for exploring the town, and rented a scooter from the shop across the road to travel to the nearby beach, which was busy but very pleasant. Be sure to look for the hidden restaurants alongside the river, which can't be beat. I also went to a tailor recommended by the hotel and had two suits made. Hoi An is famous for it's tailors and I will be enjoying my purchase for a long time to come.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this amazing find--I would recommend it to anyone!

We stayed in the standard room, which was small, but had everything we needed and was decorated in tasteful manner. Had a little courtyard out the back which was a suprise little bonus. The free internet in the room is really convenient. Also, the breakfast is amazing! Huge variety to choose from and always really fresh produce. We borrowed the free bikes to go around town and down to the coast. It really is the best way to discover the town and surrounding area. We really loved Hoi An and our stay at Ha An made it even more enjoyable. Highly reccommend!
