“Focused on to every small detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2011

Nice hotel very close to the city center of Hoi An. The center itself is tiny (three streets) and there are not many hotels, so this one is pretty close but out of the hussle, so it's a great option. The staff are always incredibly helpful and ready to help you in every way. We were pretty surprised since we mentioned it was the end of our honeymoon and they preparede... a special welcome for us!!! It was very sweet!!!

Shame it was raining, since the swimming pool looked small but attractive. The whole experience was very possitive!!!

The staff at this hotel were really outstanding, so friendly and really seemed to enjoy talking with the guests and we enjoyed talking with them. Helped us book a tour to My Son at prices that were better than what the other travel agencies were offering. They also helped us book our train tickets to Hue and arranged a private taxi to take us to Marble Mountain before dropping us off at the train station in Da Nang.

Firstly, let me start by saying that the staff at this hotel were very friendly and efficient so no complaints there. They were extremely helpful with any queries and the welcome drink/introduction chat was a nice touch.

We were also able to check into our room early (around 10am) which was really nice after having taken an early morning flight from Nha Trang.

Now for the specifics:

Pool - one of the reasons we booked the hotel, the pictures I had seen on booking.com were misleading as you couldn't tell it was a courtyard pool that didn't get any sun. Needless to say we didn't even consider using it as every balcony in the place looked on to the pool and you'd effectively be swimming 10m from the reception desk.

The room - We had room 302 as I'd requested a quiet room so that was good, however the room itself (and hotel in general) was quite 'tired'. I had fairly high expectations paying $55/night and can safely say that the rooms were not as nice as our 2* hotel in Mui Ne, or the 4* hotel in Hue (both $55/night too). The room itself was clean, although we had to request the sheet be changed after checking in as there was a stain right by the pillow. We also initially had issues with the hot water getting cool after c. 2 minutes but that seemed to go away after the first day. The room itself was a good size, complimentary fruit/water was nice and the bed was comfortable, which is always a bonus. As a previous reviewer has said, being based around a courtyard you do get quite a bit of noise so don't expect to lie in.

The Breakfast - nice to be able to order off a menu, food quality was really good. We had the banana pancakes and omelettes + banana shakes. All very nice.

The Staff - Very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. I can see this would be a plus for some people and negative for others. If you just want to get on with your own thing and not engage then maybe consider somewhere else, however if you like to be pandered to then this is the hotel for you! They gave us a good recommendation on a local tailor (Kimmy) which appears to have been a winner as we ended up getting quite a bit of clothing. I was told they do not get commission, however if the quality is decent then I'm not really fussed as I've gotten a good product at a reasonable price.

Location - Something else I wasn't overly impressed with. The location is only a 10 minute walk from the centre of Hoi An, however it isn't a great street (dirty, bikes on the pavement, broken glass/etc) so you end up walking in the road and there isn't anything to do right by the hotel. Not sure why one previous reviewer said it is off a side street as the hotel is on the main road going through Hoi An towards My Son. That said, we only took a taxi back twice (once at night and once after we'd picked up our tailoring) and it was 15,000 dong (50p) which isn't really a huge outlay. Walking into town the rest of the time was fine.

We've had mixed feelings about the hotel post departure, the staff were very good, however the hotel itself is a let down and given the price I don't think it was worth it. I have stayed in far better 2* hotels in Vietnam and if it was only $40/night then I'd probably give it a 'very good' rating, however for the price I'd expect a bit more.

Hope this helps.
David

The Nhi Nhi is a mid-range hotel that provides more an experience than mere accommodation.

Physically, the exterior is just another brick in the wall. The interior however is invitingly quaint and the foyer exudes a warm fuzzy feeling. The rooms are reasonably generous and are clustered around a calming dolphin pool.

But it is the service that will blow your brain!

You may travel the world, but you will never be welcomed more uniquely. Think that's good? - you haven't lived till you've been through the farewell! In between, it is an absolute delight.

The joy of traveling is more about the people you meet than about the places you see. Meet the Nhi Nhi people and your Hoi An memories will surpass all others.

A cute hotel in Hoi An that is a bit out of the centre but an easy walk or taxi away. Great rooms, breakfast and facilities.
But what really makes the place is the amazing staff- they couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy with our stay, both at the hotel but also in Hoi An. They really took the time to chat to use, organized bikes to hire and a private car to the airport- they even waved us off!
Would highly recommend!

We stayed 3 nights at Nhi Nhi and enjoyed every minute. The rooms are excellent value and the knowledge and recommendations of the staff made sure that we had a great time in Hoi An. We enjoyed the easy walk back to the hotel after being out or if too loaded with shopping bags we would catch a taxi for 15000dong. The staff at this hotel genuinely care about their guests and even went the extra mile to help when we had a malfunctioning iPad. Plus there is wifi throughout.I asked one day if there was a newspaper and they went straight out and bought one and then made sure each day I was given the newspaper. It was great.

Room Tip: Select room towards the indoor pool (if not all rooms face the pool?).
