“Very good value, helpful staff, peaceful location & worth checking out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2011

Stayed three nights here and glad I picked it. Built in a great French colonial replica style the hotel is a handy (If not beach side or downtown location) about 10 mins walk from the beach and maybe 4Km from the old town. Clean rooms, solid wifi, lovely swimming pool and riverside location make this a good choice. Friendly staff who went the extra mile, renting me a scooter and offering advice. Breakfast is adequate but nothing special, the hotel was farirly quiet and has a few overnighters on Vietnam tours, not many independant travellers. Shuttle to Old Town and an easy walk to the beach, this hotel is worth considering for a Hoi An stay if you don't want to be on the "beach club hotel" scene or stay right in the old town area.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days and 3 nights for vacation. When i stayed here, i had a good service, the sheets, pillows and the towels were changed every day. The housekeeper made my bed every morning also. I love the foods and beverage here, they are very delicious. People here are friendly especially the staffs, and i want to come back this hotel on next vacation.

On arrival at the Indochine we were greeted with friendly staff, who were happy to help where they were able. We stayed on the fourth floor, and were looking forward to seeing what our room was like. To our disappointment we were greeted to a foul smelling odour on opening the door. The room was damp, and the smell of mould was terrible. On inspecting the bathroom floor, there was mould all over the tiles especially where the shower was located. After having a shower in was like an elephant had been in there, as the shower curtain was old, and did not stop water running all over the floor. This no doubt has caused the mould problems. The beds need to be replaced as do all the pillows, as it was like sleeping on a sack of potatoes all night. This mixed with the smell of mould provided a wrestless night. As we stayed on the fourth floor and breakfast is served on the fifth level, from 6am all we heard were chairs and tables been dragged along the floor, and it was very noisy. We visited breakfast around 8:30. The food provided was poor in quality, and the bread was stale. We had booked for three nights, but left after one as we could not bear the smell of mould or the noise.

Decided to splurge on some fancy digs instead of going to Nha Trang. This hotel is a ten minute walk from the beautiful beach and the river runs right beside it.. Finally a soft bed!!! It is designed like an old French colonial structure. The pool is large and warm. Staff are wonderful and bring you fruit for your fridge. Almost every room has a balcony. Breakfast is on the top floor and has a sweeping panorama of the area. . Sometimes you can get a room cheaper than our $42 by booking online. There is a courtyard/patio beside the river and pool which is not utilized. We thought would be great for barbecues in the evening. Oh well. There are some pretty good restaurants as well just over the bridge, either side. Minibar in fridge. An owl visited the hotel on the roof corners on several nights. We were sad to leave the place but Hue beckoned.
