“Superb service with the personal touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2010

This is without doubt one of the best hotels we've stayed in and it is mainly due to the personal attention and warm welcome we received from the staff. They were great from the moment we walked in the door and despite both me and the hubby getting sick (not from anything connected to the hotel, I hasten to add!!), this was still one of the best bits of our trip thanks to how comfortable we were made during our illnesses, as well as the delights of Hoi An in between.

The room was a double room at the front of the hotel, so the noise of the street might bother some people as daily life starts early in Vietnam. If you sleep lightly, I'd recommend sending a request for a rear room instead. However, the room we had was lovely - the style of the room is quite old-fashioned, full of character and charm, but perhaps just a little bit tired in places. We were happy there for 5 nights, so this shouldn't put anyone off, just something to be aware of. It was a good size, with a very large bathroom, one of the few we've had with a bath tub in it, although in this country, you're unlikely to use it.

The staff on the front desk were really helpful; they booked flights for us, sorted out day trips, arranged our taxi to the airport on leaving, plus more, and always with a smile and some chat. Just be aware that when it comes to checkout, if you have a large bill to pay, you'll need to plan getting cash out for it as they don't take cards here.

Breakfast was the best yet of our stay in Vietnam, with plenty of choices, some western, some Asian, and all very good. As you eat it out in the garden, it is a lovely start to the day. The pool is also in the garden and despite some reservations beforehand thanks to other reviewers comments, we found it fully functional and very pleasant at the end of a tiring day.

The location is good, with a short walk to the old town, and plenty of shops and services on the same street. I'd recommend taking advantage of the beauticians, especially the one closest on the opposite side of the street - can't remember the name, but the manicure there lasted two weeks, which for me is about 5 times the usual length!

Overall, whilst there are more plush hotels and cheaper ones, for the mid-range traveller, I'd recommend this one as having the best combination of services for the price.

We stayed here for 7 nights and we loved the hotel! The rooms are nice and cozy. The bathrooms have big bathtubs that are very nice.

The girls at the reception are very nice! They are very helpfull and like to make a conversation with you. For us these girls are a big plus for this hotel.

The hotel is about a 5/10 minutes walk to the old centre. In the street of the hotel you can find a lot of restaurants, tailors etc.

We had a room at the front, so we did hear the traffic. Luckely it's not a really busy street.

Breakfast was ok, not spectacular. Personell are just standing around chatting with eachother.

We had free wi-fi in our room that worked very well! Also they have 4 computers in the lobby to use free of charge.

Two days we had no electricity but altough the hotel has a generator they hardely used it (said it was broken). So no lights, no airconditioning and no wi-fi that days. At night we did have electricity and I think thats the most important.

They say on their website you can pay with creditcard, but that's not possible. There is also no safe in the room.

The garden is very nice. The swimmingpool looked very good to, but we did not use it.

The hotel had a good atmosphere! Employees don't try to sell trips to you.

Everyday we received two big bottles of water and three bananas free of charge.

Nice garden in the back of the hotel and good breakfast options. The room were located in the back of the hotel but we heard all the streetnoise anyway, and all the noise from the reception. The en-suite bathroom has a window with only wooden shades just on the side by the bed. The staff was very young and was sitting by the guest computers every time we passed by.

We stayed for 3 nights at the LongLife Riverside hotel after reading the fairly positive reviews however overall the stay was a bit of mixed bag. Nice room in a good location.

We had booked a deluxe river view room a night and had the booking confirmed via email. On arrival we were taken to a room which overlooked the pool. Only after querying about our "river view" we were advised, the room we had actually booked was not available. However they seemed happy to check us into a superior room and charge us a higher price for a deluxe room!! After much discussion with the reception staff did they then agree to lower the price of the room. Surely they could have just told us at check-in the room we had booked was not available?

The breakfast was ok but overshadowed by the ordinary service - the staff would stand around chatting even though the buffet would require re-stocking during busy points during the breakfast service. Pool looked ok , we didn't get a chance to use it as it was always crowded when walked passed.

Also, word of caution, during our stay another guest reported her laptop had been stolen while she was out at dinner! Though the hotel advertises it has a safety box in the room, it doesn't. It also advertises it accepts credit card for payment. It doesn't! After being open for 2 months, we don't think they can keep using this as an excuse for the shortcomings and should perhaps focus on addressing this.

We think the hotel has potential to be a lot better.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the beginning of April 2010 and really enjoyed my time there. My queen size room was very comfortable- nicely decorated and the spa bath tub was a nice extra.Tea making facilities would have been nice-however it's possible other rooms had this facility. The staff were friendly and helpful. One night all of the aircons stopped working and they immediately acted to rectify the problem. Before my arrival, I e-mailed once or twice with various queries and the staff replied promptly on each occasion.Breakfast -cereal, omlettes, pancakes, bread, jam, coffee etc was served each morning in the pleasant surroundings of the garden. There was also a small pool- I didn't see anyone in it, but it at least looked decorative!

What others have said about requesting a room at the back of the hotel is true- my room was on the first floor at the front and the constant stream of motorbikes passing by was quite noisy.

This is a real gem of a place. The rooms are great, the garden (overlooking rice paddies) with its small pool is great, and the girls on reception were a pleasure to deal with. Breakfast was included and was a hearty, freshly cooked, delicious affair. OK if you are travelling on a budget, there are cheaper rooms to be found in Hoi Ann, but this was bang on the money. Well worth it.

It is a bit of a walk to the centre of the old town, and the road out front can be noisy (so ask for a room on the back if you can) but these are minor criticisms.

We booked 3 nights in Longlife Riverview Hotel (this is the number 2 hotel by the river). It was the loviest hotel we have ever stayed in and it is only 1 month old. The reception girls were delightful and very helpful with fantastic English, the rooms are immaculate with huge spa, internet in each room, the pool is refreshing and spotless, buffet breakfast was huge with great variety. We are travelling with our 3 year and 21 month old kids and it was a great place for them to stay for only $45 USD / night. The staff just loved the kids. Highly recommend.
