“Huge sprawling hotel in a great beach-side location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Palm Garden hotel is a massive, sprawling resort in a prime location right on Hoi An beach. It's about a 15 minute car journey to the charming Hoi An town.

The room I stayed in was quite big and well appointed with a nice bathroom and shower. As the hotel is so vast not all rooms have a sea view, mine included. The hotel grounds are well tended to though so it was still pleasant.

The large swimming pool is nice and has a good children's area.

The food in the restaurant was generally very good, and the breakfast excellent. Loads of variety and generally a high standard.

Service was fine: helpful, friendly and efficient.

Overall, whereas Palm Garden obviously won't attract people wanting to stay in a cozy, boutique-type hotel, those who are looking for a grand, swanky resort will be well satisfied.

Lovely location on a beautiful stretch of beach, pleasant staff and a nice pool. The food is good, especially the breakfast. The gardens around the resort are beautiful but they are also a breeding ground for vermin - of which we saw plenty. They just don't seem to have proper control on the rat and mouse population onsite, and it was not pleasant to see them run across the restaurants whilst we were eating!
Two other issues - the bathroom is completely non-private with shutters opening it completely to the room and, even when closed, anyone in th bathroom is completely visible to others in the room. Secondly, avoid this place if they a large bus tour staying! They totally take over the place, the restaurants can't keep up with demand and any peace and tranquility on the resort evaporates instantly.
Overall, nice resort but you're paying for a beach location - not worth its 5 star rating and not a patch on comparably priced and rated resort hotels elsewhere.

Room Tip: Deluxe are significantly nicer than the superior ones. Garden rooms can overlook the road (ours did...

We stayed here in June for 3 nights and we wished we could have been there longer. The resort caters well for families, the children section in the pool was bigger than normal. We ate at the restaurant in the resort it was tasty, but we also sampled the restaurants over the road which most of the people from the resort were going too which also didn't disappoint. The buffet breakfast had lots of choices. Only let down was there was a conference at the time we were there & that crowd was very loud & rowdy but apart from that we enjoyed it.

We came back on 20 June after staying at the Palm Garden Beach Resort for 7 days. My husband and I had a lovely time. The staff at the Palm Garden were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a garden view room (305) which was close to the pool and we could see the beach in the distance from our window. The pool was like a warm bath as was the sea. We ate at Mia Casa across the road from the resort and it didn't disappoint either. We also had a massage across the road from the resort which was quite good ($10 for one hour - full body for me and foot reflexology for my husband for one hour also). We also enjoyed a seafood bbq at the resort which is held every Saturday night for $25US per head.

Our (family of 4) 4 nights stay at Palm Garden was totally enjoyable & satisfying. The room is clean & spacious with decent good wi-fi connection, breakfast was sufficient, the service was generally good. Even though the resort was >80% full during our stay, it didn't seem crowded at all, no problems getting deck chairs. The resort is clean and well-landscaped. We practically had the tennis courts to ourselves during the 5 days there.

Food within the resort is understandably pricey but you have choices of 3 decent restaurants just opposite the resort, half the hotel prices. Golden Lotus is a good choice, good & attentive service with wide selection of both Western & Vietnamese food. For fresh & good seafood, I strongly recommend Minh Vinh, a10 mins taxi ride away. Obviously popular restaurant with the locals - we were the only foreigner when we were there. US$50 feeds a family of 4 sufficiently with good variety of seafood.

Hoi An town is about 20 minutes away. The resort provides 4-times/day shuttle service. You will find many F&B & spa options there. We really enjoyed strolling the pedestrian-only streets in the old part of town after dinner.

If we are back in Hoi An, we would definitely be back at Palm Resort.

Room Tip: Rooms around the Lotus pond area is nice & near to the lobby. Go for the 3nd floor for more priv...
