“Wonderful property and great for small children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for six nights in April and were delighted with the place. Spacious room / villa facing the pool and gardens for our 4 and 2 year old to run around in. The pool is huge and has the biggest childrens section I have ever seen..also perfect depth as the average four year old can stand in there which is ideal if you want to teach them how to swim without arm bands!

The kids club is good and offers shelter from the heat, and after an initial misunderstanding as to supervision at the kids club the manager ensured staff were on duty to allow my wife and me some time alone each day. I cant praise the staff at the kids club enough our children adored them - thank you Ahn for making lovely flower decorations with our daughter!

The beach is also nice and you can walk further up to the more Vietnamese beach if lounging on a beach with Westerners all day doesnt appeal. I would highly recommend this if you have children....the Vietnamese are incredibly fond of little children! Only real gripe about the beach is that the constant din caused by jet skis ruins the otherwise idyllic mood....I have seen too many perfect beaches ruined by them sadly!

My only negative point would be the cost of food and drink at the resort. Yes it is a five star resort but being charged multiples in excess of the excellent restaurants nearby (try Mi Casa across the road) is hard to stomach in a country where the input costs are so low. Ultimately no one likes to feel that they are being fleeced, five star resort or not!

We loved this place as did our children....and we will return.

We stayed at the Palm Garden Resort in Hoi An for 4 nights during March. I think it was the 17th untril the 21st. The resort is beautiful. The grounds and pool are spectacular. The staff is wonderful. We had a bit of a problem when we checked in as our rooms were right by some construction that was going on. It was outside the back door of our room but I was concerned that the noise would carry through since I had read other people's comments about the sound carrying through the walls. They moved us and gave us a bit of an upgrade but the couple we were travelling with ended up with on the 2nd floor but no balcony?? They said it was fine and truthfully you don't spend any time in your room except for sleeping. I only wish they had accounted for the construction when they were accepting bookings and not placed people at it. I guess they will try to fully occupy whether there is work going on or not.
Other than that small problem the resort was great. The ocean was a little rough but the beach and pool were great. The food was a little expensive but if you walk a little way down the beach you can definitely get your money's worth. It's a pretty big resort and we kept seeing buses of people coming in but you never saw them again???? It was a little like the "Twilight Zone". Where did all the people go? We actually ate in the restaurant one night and there was no one except the 4 of us. We had some clothing made in HoiAn and they delivered it to the resort which was very nice. Had no plans on getting anything made but changed our mind when we saw the price. My husband had a suit made for an upcoming wedding for one of our kids this summer. It's exceptionally well made. HoiAn was actually my favourite place in Vietnam except for Halong Bay. I could walk around HoiAn for days and not see the same place twice. Went also for a tour of the market with a local and that was very interesting.
The bathrooms in the resort do have a problem with the water running all over the floor from the shower. I dont' know why they don't put a base on the floor of the bathroom? I guess I'm old!!
Anyway.....it's a beautiful resort and would stay there again.

We stayed here as possible 14 day tour, so didn't spend too long there, but what time we did was terrific. The rooms, in bungalows situated throughout the gardens, were really lovely. It does live up to its name. Have no hesitation in recommending.

While the grounds of this hotel are extremely beautiful including an open air lobby, beautiful spa area, pool and beach there are some things that could have been better. The bathrooms are a bit outdated and could be improved but generally good. The walls were thin and you could hear your neighbors which was a bit annoying. And while the spa looks beautiful from the outside its a bit of a weird experience. We went for facials and the ladies clearly didn't know what they were doing and they rubbed our face for about an hour. The massage was okay but nothing special, especially for the price. It was also creepy that they have a person walk inside the ladies change room and she has to sit there while you change and get ready....it was a bit discomforting.

The POSITIVES:
BUFFET BREAKFAST was amazing. Really great stuff both western and eastern dishes.
Restaurants- generally really good food. Try the lemongrass beef and the white rose dumplings.
The beach was beautiful and secluded.
the pool and grounds were nice.
service was great.
staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
REALLY loved your time in Hoi An.

* They also have a shuttle that takes you into town and picks up every few hours. bike rentals from the grounds are a bit expensive. walk across the street where you can purchase for 2 dollars for the entire day. great way to see the town and bike into HOI AN village.

This is a lovely resort but there are a few things that let it down. Firstly there is not enough storage for your clothes in the rooms so you have to live out of your suitcase (some drawers would be fantastic) and there is nowhere to put your things in the bathrooms either. Secondly, the soundproofing is non-existent so you can hear everything that is going on in the rooms above you. Apart from that the grounds and pool area are lovely as is the beach.

This is our third stay at Palm Gardens. The resort has a beautiful large pool and wonderful gardens delivering a peaceful, relaxing environment. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to assist you. We have always stayed in an ocean view room on the top (second level) floor. Rooms 528, 526 are highly recommended. Even when the resort has been fully booked, given the size of the grounds and the pool, it remains quiet with plenty of options for dining and lazing around the pool or at the beach. We look forward to our fourth stay as we couldn't do better for price, service and environment.

Our family of 3 stayed at Palm Gardens in a Deluxe Garden Room in early April for 3 nights. The rooms are large, comfortable and well-kept with all modern facilities including free and fast wifi. Staff from all areas of the resort were informative, friendly, and provided high quality of service.

Highlights of our stay included:
- The buffet breakfast included with our package each day -a different Vietnamese dish is served each morning and is well worth a try, alongside the more usual Western, Japanese and Chinese fare.
- A visit to the Day Spa for relaxing massages, manicure and pedicure. Whilst perhaps a little bit more expensive than spas in Hoi An itself, we found the convenient location of the resort Spa ideal.
- Spending the afternoon lazing between the swimming pools and the beach (which is one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches we have ever visited). The resort runs a Happy Hour at the beach bar each day, so it was nice to sip drinks while watching the sunset.
- Like previous reviewers we also dined across the road at Mi Casa and can highly recommend this restaurant for visitors to Palm Gardens (try their local Hoi An dishes). We dined at the resort's restaurant (Colibri) one night also, and were very pleasantly surprised by the fresh fish and curries that they served.
- We booked a tour to My Son temples via the resort and enjoyed a nice day trip at a reasonable price.

The only thing we might do differently next time is book earlier to secure an Ocean View Room. We look forward to our next stay.
