“everything on your doorstep”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Formally known as life heritage resort i have nothing negative at all to say about this hotel. It was the highlight of my holiday in vietnam. amazing central location but in a quiet corner on the edge of the main tourist area. You can just take a bike out to explore and shop and you are always welcomed back by the friendly staff. They organised a day trip to my son for a very good price and the driver had drinks and refreshment towels ready for us when we returned from exploring. The rooms are amazing and the pool area is nice. The breakfast bar has a great view and i was really impressed with the quality and variety of food. Highly Recommended

Just had a quick look at some of the recent reviews on this hotel and am a little bit confused as I must have gone to a different place! Juts returned from Hoi An and a weeks stay at Anantara Life and I LOVED it!!! Service beyond compare, beautiful room and gardens, ideal location.....

Planned a stay to coincide with my boyfriend's 40th birthday and I had organised a few surprises with the hotel before we arrived (see below).

So arrived about 2pm the first afternoon and very quick efficient check-in. Porters took our bags immediately and we were served with a lovely cold drink and towel whilst we went through the check-in process. Showed to our room (had a deluxe river view suite) which was lovely - large lounge area, lovely big bed and huge flat screen TV - massive bathroom with sunken bath and 2 different types of shower! Style was of a Japanese type. Everything was spotless and aircon worked fabulously. Bathroom had everything you needed and great little pots of shower gel, body lotion and shampoo topped up daily - turndown service as well (which sort of tailed off the last few days of our stay but that wasn't any issue really).

Minibar well stocked with drinks and snacks - bit pricey but its that type of hotel.

Each room has its own small sofa area outside and as we were overlooking the Perfume River, it was lovely just watching the boats go by and the river trade.

We used room service a few times which was extremely efficient.

The grounds are lovely, very french colonial with lots of plants and walkways. Extremely clean and well maintained. Ground keepers very smiley and friendly.

Smallish pool but its more of a cooling off pool rather than used for swimming - very shallow but deeper further in but not really made for swimming laps. Lots of sun beds with comfy cushions and ample supply of towels. Lovely poolside bar serving fantastic selection of drinks and snacks and great service. They have a lunchtime BBQ a few times a week. The only single negative I have about our experience here is that the pool can over run with children - it really isn't a play pool (even though there is separate shallower pool for kids). I can't really be doing with kids running amok when the environment is more suited to adults just relaxing and trying to soak up the sun/read a book and cool down in the pool. The parents couldn't seem to care less about what their kids were up to which was most annoying - clearly the hotel cannot really get involved here so are blameless - the kids just marred our enjoyment slightly.

Breakfast is served in the main building which also holds a cafe open during the day and an evening/late night bar/restaurant with outside seating. They show old silent movies a few times a week (which is really quite quaint and silent movies can be watched by anyone without the language barrier!).

Breakfast selection was unbelievable - so much to eat and so much choice! Tea and coffee cups always filled up by the staff!

The hotel is located just on the edge of the main action in the town which is nice as it doesn't get the noise and tourist traffic and its a lovely quite walk back on an evening. There are a number of small salons (great pedicure at one of them!), cafes and laundry services just outside.

The hotel also offers excursions to places of local interest (go and see the My Son ruins about 40k away).

The surprises the hotel arranged for my boyfriend were out of this world. The hotel has its own boat on the Perfume River and I had booked a private mini breakfast cruise. Departed at 7.30am and we had our own chef and waitress (Dieu and Nguyen - hope spelling is right!) who were so friendly and chatty. The amount of food they provided on our 90 minute journey was huge!!!! Enough to fill 10 people!

When we got back to our room about 9.30am, the hotel had left flowers, a card and a chocolate cake with candle/matches!

In the evening I had booked a private dining experience which turned out to be in a decorated pagoda by the swimming pool - draped in lanterns and curtains, we had a 5 course meal with our own BBQ and chefs/waiter whilst music was piped into the pagoda - beautiful service/food and atmostphere - also extremely romantic so if anyone is planning a honeymoon this might be the place for you! At the end of the meal the chefs brought out a HUGE birthday cake with candles and sang Happy Birthday to my boyfriend - he loved the attention! What a great memory!

I cannot stipulate enough just how wonderful this hotel and its staff are - overwhelmingl good and I highly recommend this place if you plan to stay in Hoi An.

... To THE WATER PALACE!!!

If you want to slip on the stone floors or stand in the parking lot water holes... This is the place for you.

Badly designed floors makes this hotel in an unsafe proposition.

Old type resort hotel, without the resort. Only a swimming pool, no fitness center...

This 90 + plus rooms property resembles a 1980's USA three star resort model.

Efficient services, but a lack of daily activities.

Breakfast in open space, with Fans, instead Air Condition in 40 center grade plus....., not a great day to start....

Meeting facilities are confined to one large ballroom unit only.

Located next to a river, which cannot be used for hygienic reasons, there is one central pool only available.

Nice and unexciting......

Room Tip: All appear spacious.

Both this Hotel and Hoi An were the highlight of our tour of Vietnam.
Staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. Our Garden View Juniour Suite was very comfortable & spacious even with the added bed for our daughter. Meals were good especially the breakfasts which had enough choices for varous nationalities.
The location is very good, close to local attractions, surrounded by good quality cafes and restaurants, we walked everywhere in the old town from this hotel, which was only 5 minutes away.

Located just at the corner of Hoi An.
Great place to stay if you want to tour Hoi An. Within walking distance to most of the city and restaurants there.
Food is good and not too expensive.
The rooms are quite comfortable and more than adequate. Generally quite quiet too.
The spa is good and there were nice discounts when I was there for non-peak periods.
Downsides are that the pool is small and can get crowded. There also aren't any gym facilities.

This hotel is perfect in so many ways - the rooms are lovely, the service is excellent, the food is delicious, the range of activities on offer is impressive, the location in perfect - on the river and walking distance to the old part of town. I found the spa disappointing - definitely not up to the standard of other anantara resorts. It was also rather crowded - definitely too many rooms for the small pool area to handle. One tip would be not to spend money on a junior suite as there was no discernible difference between our suite and our friends' deluxe room.
