“Poorly lit; Only visit if you LOVE Museums”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

This museum was small, dark and quite uninteresting. Granted, we are not usually museum people, but this place was mostly pottery and other dusty old artifacts. I'd give this place a miss unless you love museums, are a anthropology fan, or have nothing better to do in Hoi An (which I would find hard to believe!)

“Interesting but sparce”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

A little light of content but interesting nonetheless. Worth the short time needed to get round it and some good learning about the local area

“For a rainy day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

I am surprised that others have rated this little museum so highly. Perhaps they are archaeologists or anthropologists with a special interest in minor ancient civilizations. For the "man in the street", it offers an attractive account of this 2,000 year-old culture, with informative photos and text, and the whole museum is very well organized. The artifacts themselves are fairly modest, and they cannot compare with the size and artistic quality of those to be found in the truly 5-star museums devoted to the general subject. As it is in the Old City, you will probably pass it anyway, and for the price, you may as well pop your head in. Otherwise, it is for a rainy day when a trip to the beach is not a good idea.

“For the ancient civilizations history buffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

This museum is among one of the many that stand testament that ancient civilizations in the east are far more sophisticated than we credit them to be. The artifacts on display and the write ups that accompany it give great insight to the trade, socio-political leanings and thoughts of that time... Truly remarkable... I can such much else without doing it justice other than you'd have to go there and see it for yourself to appreciate the culture and it's people that existed eons ago.

“Museum of pottery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

This is more like a Sa Huynh art museum. They display the items that reflect the culture and the traditions of this long lost civilization. Worth the money and worth the time for this place.
