“Tranquil Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Hoi An Beach Resort wasn't our first choice of accommodation in Hoi An however as many places were fully booked we decided on this place. Our first impression wasn't great. We arrived in the evening around 8pm after our flight had been delayed 6 hours. On arrival we enquired after dinner and were informed that the buffet at a set price was on offer and a good option for us. We accepted this but on entering the restaurant saw that most of the food was gone and what was left was cold. Some of the food was reheated for us which was pretty awful and in the end we hardly ate a thing but were still asked to pay the full price. After complaining we received a small discount however my recommendation would be not to eat in the restaurant during your stay as there are so many wonderful options in town at a cheaper price. I have to say however that after this initial bad impression things improved greatly. We stayed in the riverside villa which was beautifully laid out with stunning views of the river. The beds were comfortable and rooms were very quiet. There was a choice of two pools at the resort which the children loved and the buffet breakfast was pretty good. The shuttle bus went into town fairly regularly too. If you are after a tranquil resort this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Room with riverside view is a must. Request one that is not close to the restaurant.

Nice Hotel and staff, we stayed in a riverside villa because we heard that the beachview villas actually didn't have a view over the beach or the sea since the view were obscured by some bushes and the road. We were right to stay at the riverside villa, and they are also cheaper. Gorgeous, calm view over the river but close to everything you need.

One minus was the pricing of the food and other things at the resort. don't get me wrong, I KNOW that resort prices are always higher than outside the gates, but the prices here of the food was a bit overpriced in our opinion. And the food was not that good actually. But the good thing is, just outside the gates to the left there is a street with some restaurants and shops. The food here was excellent! We loved it and came back almost everyday to eat, and the price was really low. So don't eat at the resort, ridicolous pricing. Other than that, it was a very nice resort with two big pools, and nice promenades along the river. The Cua Dai beach is just across the street. Keep in mind that this street is sometimes busy with traffic, but still - it's one minute to the beach from the reception.

There's a free shuttle bus to Hoi an ancient town (back and forth), that departure at a fixed time table. That's very good, but sometimes you might want to take your own taxi since the minibuss cam be quite cramped. Plus, the taxis aren't that expensive at all. About 15-20 minutes between the resort and the town.

So:

* Would totally recommend this place, but don't eat at the resort, a bit too overpriced! Better value for money across the street

Room Tip: Choose the riverside villas since they are cheaper that the ocean view, and really have a very nice...

we stayed a week here 7th -14th May .. we had a lovely time.
We had a deluxe garden view room which was towards the back of the complex so sitting out we looked over the grounds and a fountain but could still catch a glimpse of what was happening on the road outside. The room itself was spacious and clean with good air con. The bathroom was a little dated and a little musty but I think that was down to the shower spraying past the end of the bath and soaking a wooden panel at the end ..but it was nothing to spoil our enjoyment.
The bed was the biggest, most comfortable bed in the world ! we both slept so well here .
The pools looked beautiful but I am a beach lover and the beach was so close and so lovely we never found the time to make use of the pools.
As I said the beach was lovely the bar on the beach very handy for a cold beer and clean beach towels every day and not over pricey either. it was also nice that you didn't get pestered on this part of the beach to buy the 24th fan of the day !
The courtesy bus was very handy for trips into town and although the main reception and restaurant was having a bit of a revamp, there was no major disruption to us at all.
Breakfasts were had a wide choice and fresh and the staff always on hand with a smile and a wave.
I'd go back anytime and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We spent two nights at this resort. it's also the worst treatment we've ever received. Things were good until we got our food and beverage bill. I generally don't complain much about hotels if you read my reviews, but this one really took the cake. If you are a budget traveller, don't buy anything.

The pool bartender quoted us 64K Dong and 50K Dong for our drinks. The next day we got 1 7UP quoted at roughly 20K Dong. That would amount to roughly 134K Dong. Upon checkout we were charged 218K Dong. When we brought up the prices we were quoted, the receptionist became angry at us. She said it was $5 per drink and the coke was $2.50. Seriously? In Vietnam?

Yes we are westerners, yes we money. But we didn't come here so we could get taken advantage of. We work for our money too.

Another issue with the checkout situation is that checkout is at noon. It wasn't even noon before they started calling us. We assured them that we were coming down and we were in the midst of packing our bags. However, that wasn't good enough for them. Another person came up at exactly noon to remind us. The hotel was/is not busy at all. It was low season, so low that we've walked by numerous empty rooms and the resort is just aching for business. There were at most 6 families staying at this resort.

Budget travellers beware. You're better off staying somewhere in the city and taking a bus or cab to the beach.

Room Tip: River view was nice.

We have just left this hotel and found the experience enjoyable the hotel offers both beach and pool areas with bars at both the breakfast buffet was great the staff were helpful we had a river view room it was spacious , clean and good air conditioning. The hotels shuttle bus was very easy to use and if it was not convenient the taxi was around $4.00. Overall good value for money well worth considering for your visit.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at the Hoi An Beach Resort during April.
The hotel had a driver at the airport to collect us and take us to the resort.
Our room was on the ground floor overlooking the ocean & the amazing beach & spacious, to say the least. An easy stroll to the beach across the road and to the eateries & shopping.
The resort has a gift shop, also a hairdresser and spa & massage facilities.
A wonderful area to dine for breakfast & dinner that overlooked a lake ... Another amazing experience. Beautiful breakfast with both Asian & Western choices.
Staff were obliging & friendly.
Free Internet in the foyer, although not all were operating all of the time.
A most relaxing stay in a beautiful resort in a grand location!

We had a very enjoyable time during staying time in this resort, nice river view from our villa, and the pool is also clean & nice. I like evening time there with lantern on the river, some fisher man scatter on the boat in front of our room make us feel safety and relaxing...

Room Tip: Riverside room is the best
