“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We stayed here in late March-early April. The hotel room was nice and the staff was very good. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the river in the back. The bed was comfortable, bathroom excellent. The services like WiFi, bar fridge, coffee maker, etc were all excellent.

We got a good rate on the internet, but it was still more than we typically spend on a room when in Asia. But it was a nice change. Booking was easy and efficient on line direct with the hotel.

The grounds are well kept. The weather was not great so we only used the pool once. It is a nice pool and patio area. However, the pool bar seemed like it was all but closed. There was never anyone in there to serve drinks. Perhaps because of the poor weather.

We chose it here so we could be close to the beach. However, due to the weather the beach was not the best place to sit. Windy and cool with big waves. Still we would have enjoyed a cocktail at the beach bar, but like the pool bar, they did not have any staff working out there. Again, perhaps it was due to the weather.

We used the free shuttle service a few times. It was very timely and efficient and it's a very short ride into Ancient Town. The drivers were always friendly and informative. We also rented bicycles from the hotel. They were good bikes and we enjoyed riding them around the island.

We never ate any meals here except for the breakfast buffet which is incuded. The buffet is very good and definitey would fill you up until dinner. Plenty of variety in N. American, VN, and European dishes.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We would like to return and experience the beach and pool in nicer weather. The floating lantern show in the river at night is nice.

Hoi An Beach Resort is 4 star, but is as close to 5 star as one can get. Rooms (river view) are large (55 sq.m) and well appointed. At off-season rates, the price is right. River view or garden view are fine -- garden view has views of the river, but at an angle, not front-on. Sea (beach) view are facing the road, across which is the beach. One cannot see the sea due to palm trees etc. Unlike other resorts, such as widely recommended Victoria Beach Hotel, this is convenient to many small shops, restaurants, etc.. Victoria is quite some distance so one is locked into hotel prices for meals; not so with Hoi An BR. Shuttle bus to the old quarter is fine providing one pays attention to the schedule. the resort's quoted price to/from the airport ($22) in Da Nang is about the same as the standard price quoted by cabs etc., so not a rip-off. The only rip-off are drink prices at the beach bar -- twice the in-room mini-bar price and many times more than elsewhere. I would have thought that marketing experts would have informed the hotel that is counterproductive and encourages guests to drink elsewhere. The beach is clean and very long.

I agree with Mish2201 that is is very important that you have a very clear idea whether you want to be at the beach or in the town. When we arrived at the resort my first impression was that it was a bit dated and not very welcoming. The staff at the reception was rather uninterested. However, as soon as we checked in we were offered "an upgrade with the ocean view" which was a bit surprising but welcome. However, when we were shown to our room, to my surprise, the room was facing busy road and was located next door to a gift shop. When I went back and asked for the room I originally booked, which was river facing, the staff insisted that I was being upgraded and should by happy with it. Finally, after I insisted that I would rather have what I originally booked, the showed us into river facing room. The accommodation was spacious and overall not bad but lacking any character. Also, I found that the hotel has so many rules and regulation and charges for every bit equipment that you could possibly charge, including tea spoons, that I found it all a bit enjoying. After a long journey we went to the restaurant to have something to eat. The place looked tired, old and dirty so we decided to go to town instead. And once we saw the town with it's beautiful buildings and lively restaurant we were so disappointed that we were not close enough to all this action that we decided to change the hotel the next day and stay in town. And it was the best decision we could have made. So if you enjoy strolling around the town, eating out and being a part of local culture make sure you stay near the town. The Resort has nothing to offer that could possibly compensate for not being in town.

We have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Hoi An Beach Resort, we decided to have a family get together here as it was easy for my Son and daughter in law who live in Australia to meet up with us in Hong Kong on route. We also had our other grown up daughter with us from the UK. We stayed in rooms 118 (ground floor river view) 220 & 221 (both 1st floor river views.) I read numerous reviews on Tripadvisor and went with an open mind. We had an absolutely fantastic stay in Vietnam and were really pleased that we chose to base ourselves at this Hotel. The rooms were excellent, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and, as many have said before me, the breakfast was excellent! We also used the restaurant for some other evening meals and snacks and were very happy but as others have said it was more expensive than eating out. As for that, there are numerous road side restaurants just outside the hotel and despite appearances all serve excellent freshly cooked food! If you like fish you'll love staying here! Check out the numerous restaurants on the beach they are brilliant, but you need to be firm with the numerous hawkers on the beach they can become a bit much. My daughter was the only one of us who was bothered by insect bites to such an extent we ended up going to reception for advice and a visit to the Doctor was immediately arranged and she was quickly relieved with the help of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and an ointment (total cost about £20!) Several other reviews have mentioned the local 'wildlife' and yes there is plenty of it! What do expect when you are sitting next to a river and surrounded by gardens! It just made the stay more interesting for us! We used Hoi An Travel (associated with the Hotel and their office at the sister Hotel in town) we took several trips all excellent value for money and all included lots of food!!! The shuttle bus took you into town for free but the taxis were numerous and very cheap when you need to get there and back at other times. All in all, we had an excellent holiday and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others, it was great value for money but if you are looking for 5 star luxury then you will need to pay the price and look elsewhere! For us The Hoi An Beach Resort was an ideal base. Our Thanks to all the staff for making our visit a memorable one!

Room Tip: Go for a river view room if possible to avoid road noise

THe pictures are better than the expreince, but still you get a great experience! reserve spa before you get there..very little space available. diner on the water front is very nice, the beach is not bad at all, they do not often have teh large beacjh diners, unless you are in a group. But go to town the port has great food, there is even a swedish restaurant there where you can eat the best Meat bullars and mashed potatoes in the world!!

Room Tip: try the houses, as the room feel like a large hotel supermarket!

The breakfast was nice with plenty of variety. The best thing about breakfast was the setting, alongside the river so you could watch passing boats and fishermen. For me my breakfast would take longer than usual to finish because I absolutely fall in love with scenery.

The garden and beach area of the hotel were really nice and well maintained. Towels are provided on the beach so there was no need to worry running back to hotel to get an extra towel. We got a sea view villa, nice room, spacious bathroom with both huge bathtub and shower. However, only minor issue was the wall so thin that I could hear TV sounds coming from next door. Apart from that everything was great. The lanterns at night on the river are an added bonus. Pools are kept clean and staff on hand to bring towels or drinks, who could ask for anything more. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a highlight of our time in Vietnam.

I would suggest prior to arriving in Hoi An, that you decide whether you want a beach resort or somewhere in town. Hoi An beach resort is a full 6km into the middle of Hoi An and although there is a reasonably frequent complimentary shuttle, if you want to be in the city, I would recommend staying away from the beach.
The resort itself is impeccably clean, however outdated. We were supplied with one room key, which powered the room, so upon leaving the room, the air conditioner would turn off. Returning after a day exploring to a hot hotel room isnt very pleasant. Another small thing... the small towels!!! One towel per person and they are extremely small!
Other than that, the pool is nice, and breakfast ok. The hotel supplies bicycles for riding into town however this is at $110,000 dong per day, I think for the cost of staying here, this should be complementary... especially when you see the state of the bicycles.
After travelling from south to north of vietnam, this was my least favourite hotel, however not disasterous!
