“Great hotel with special service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2008

We booked a standard room but on our arrival, found it too mildewy ( Hoi An can get a lot of rain). We upgraded to a more expensive deluxe room which was excellent = quiet, large, clean, modern and worth the extra money. We ended up staying for 6 nights.
They have a very helpful staff - for example, they booked a flight for us after they researched the best air deal for us. They compared 3 different airlines and compared prices and schedules for us.
The young lady who cooks the eggs for breakfast does the best eggs in Vietnam. We were impressed with all the staff working there - probably the best we met in our 3 weeks in Vietnam.
There is free computer access for internet and free use of umbrella's if it's raining. The have a very nice pool. Location a bit out of the centre but a 10 minute walk to restaurants and banks, markets. etc.
You can also rent bikes across from the hotel which is really worth doing - you can bike to many locations around Hoi An and really explore the town and beach.

  • Liked — Great room, pool, service, excellent breakfast
  • Disliked — Location a bit out of town,

We moved to this hotel after one night at the Thanh Xuan and stayed another 3 nights here. A lovely clean spacious hotel with lovely walkways and little spots here and there to sit, read, watch the world go by. Great pool and lovely breakfast spread by the pool each morning. We stayed whilst it was raining quite a bit so it was great to have somewhere nice to retreat to.

Ditto the recent reviews - hired bikes and also a motorbike next door to get around as a little way from the 'old town area' but no problem with bikes/motorbike. We had a deluxe room which had one bedroom and then a few steps up to another 'sitting' room which had room for a sofa and a single bed without being cramped, and a balcony that overlooked the pool. Nice clean decent size bathroom with bath. The kids loved the pool and the owner Mr Hoa was very happy when kids enjoyed his hotel and pool and made children feel welcome.

I would definately stay here again if I was to ever go back.

  • Liked — Very clean and comfortable, great pool for kids
  • Disliked — a bit far from main shopping area to walk but with kids hiring a bike is a great option anyway.

We had planned to stay only 3 nights here, but we loved the town and hotel so much we stayed 12 nights! It was a great place to relax and explore Hoi An in depth.

It's located on a main street, just an easy walk to the Old Town or a 20 minute bike ride to the beach. You can easily walk into town for shopping or a night-out. Or stay close to the hotel and enjoy the small (inexpensive) restaurants, small bars, and a decent spa just down the street. You can rent bikes from a nice couple across the street - cheap prices for "cruiser-style" push bikes.

Our room was clean and comfortable - and tastefully decorated. The manager and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Their smiles are sincere. The manager was especially friendly and we enjoyed our daily conversations. The breakfast crew were always kind and did their best to make sure we were satisfied and comfortable.

We didn't book in advance - just showed up and thankfully they had rooms available. However, this hotel is used by Intrepid tour groups, so you might want to contact them in advance to check availability.

We stayed at Cua Dai Hotel for 3 days and found it to be quite a relaxing stay. The walk to the centre of Hoi An did not take too long - approx 5 min - 10mins (depending on how many people get you into there shops.) It is a further from the action but means it is reasonably quite with a nice stroll to town. The staff are friendly and great to talk to. The free internet is great and the computers are nice and fast.
Their laundry service is also pretty quick - and the manager even offered to wash and dry my stinky, sopping wet shoes from a trip to My Son. The staff oganised the tour to My Son for us and it was great. The tour guide and company was absolutely fantastic!
No safe available in the room - however the staff will look after valuables.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, Good service, reasonable price
  • Disliked — Leaking Air Conditioner, Walking to the town in the rain

This is a great place to stay with very helpful staff. Manager went out of his way to look after guests. Sounds like they will open restaurant soon a great spot at the back of the hotel next to the pool. Rooms were spotless pool was tremendous after a hot day walking.
Price was OK.
Great spot just a 5 minute walk into old town, on the road to the beach. We walked to beach approx 4 klms, took motos back. We will be back to Hoi an and Cua Dai will be on the list.

I booked at the Cua Dai Hotel on the strength of its reviews in Trip Advisor. I can safely say after spending 4 days there, that it certainly lives up to its reputation.

The hotel is decorated in a simple yet elegant manner, more European than Vietnamese style. There is a decent-sized immaculate pool set in the back, surrounded by a breakfast/dining area.

I stayed in a standard room on the second floor overlooking the street. The room was spacious and sunlit, with a very good bathroom, but incredibly noisy (even double glazing could not keep out the firece honking as of 5h30 am every day). Mr Hoa the manager, kindly proposed upgrading me to one of the superior rooms overlooking the pool in the back, but I declined as I found the room very dark (worse than noise for me).

Budget permitting, the best rooms are the deluxe suites (approx 45 $) on 2nd floor overlooking the pool : they are comprised of a bedroom, separate salon, spacious bathroom and balcony. They are indeed quieter and sunny.

The hotel is well located, being only a 10 min walk into the old town, and 15 minute bike ride to the beach. Bikes can be hired opposite the hotel for 20 000 VD per day. Mr Hoa pointed out that they used to be complimentary but this caused problems with certain businesses who were trying to make a living out of rentals, which is a valid point.

Opposite the hotel is the Na Spa, where I pampered myself daily with aromatherapy massages, pedicures, manicures and whatnot. Ask for "Phu" - she is wonderful.

The ACB just down the road seemed to give one of the best exchange rates in Hoi An, so also convenient when you are staying at Cua Dai.

The only criticism I would make, apart from the noise, would be the breakfast which I found a bit monotonous, but then I allow for the fact that I had just come from a 4-star hotel with a lush daily breakfast in Hué, so my standards may have been unrealistically high. I had some snacks by the pool on my last day, though, and they were delicious !

I will look forward to returning to Hoi An and the Cua Dai hotel in the near future.

  • Disliked — The NOISE from the street

we stayed for 5 nights in the poolside garden deluxroom. the room was super clean, very tastfully furnishesd and quite large with a nice sittinarea and private terace looking on the pool.

hoa, the manager, was realy very helpful and made us feel welcome and at home. he organized a toor for us with a private car to my son and gave us complemetary water for teh trip.
we will allways stay with them, when we have the cance to travel to hoi an again.

the location is convenient for the city and the beach.

try to stay at a room with a garden (poo)view. the rooms facing the pathio might be a little dark or noisy.
