“Packaged tourist hotel in convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2009

Large clean rooms with decent bathrooms - but with aging furniture and fixtures. In-room A/C. Tourist groups seem to main clientele. Pool available. Walking distance to old quarter of Hoi An.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2009

I stayed in Hoi An hotel for 4 nights in April 2009.

The hotel has an unbeatable location in downtown area, 200 meters from the ancient town. Rooms are fine, most of them have a balcony overlooking the garden and the hotel has a great swimming pool. Rooms have an attached bathroom (a little bit old but clean), TV with international channels, safety box, minibar and wi-fi. Breakfast is included in the price (althoug it is really standard, I would really recommend to try one of the ancient town restaurants). The hotel has a great swimming pool and a nice spa. You can make use of free Internet at the reception for 20 minutes and rent a bike for 20,000 dong/ day. I paid 45 USD/night for a deluxe room.

Overall, I think that if you are staying downtown, this is the best option as it is really close to the tourists spots and has a great swimming pool, which is a plus in the hot weather.

I would like to point out three issues:

1. I read in some reviews that management is terrible. I wouldn’t say so. I just think some of them speak poor english and it is not easy for them to communicate in this language.
2. Ask for a room overlooking the swimming pool and gardens. I was given a room looking the backyard of the hotel with a mouldy carpet. However, when I asked for another room, they were very helpful and got a new one in 30 minutes.
3. This is a group oriented hotel. Expect lots of noise when any of these groups check out early in the morning ( I was woken up at 5 am a couple of times).
4. Breakfast is really standard and the hotel restaurant is not worthy at all ( I didn’t try it but they just have burgers, beers, pizzas..) Hoi An has a great variety of restaurants and local cuisine is excellent.
5. If you are going to Da Nang by taxi, book a car outside the hotel in any of the travel agencies in the ancient town. Hotel price is 18 USD per ride, whereas downtown you get a car for 10 USD.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to enjoy beautiful Hoi An in a relaxed atmosphere.

I'm going to write this up in memo style ...
The good:
- Location: we had some clothes made (who doesn't), and the location of the hotel was great as we could easily get back to the tailor for our fittings

The bad:
- The building of the hotel is a bit older and the rooms are large and spacious. However, the rooms show their age - same for the towels. The room was clean but not worth the price.
- The service: we traveled on our own, but we saw a few coaches pull up to this hotel so I am sure this hotel is popular with guided tours. Perhaps this might contribute to the unfriendliness of the staff, but the staff at the front desk was not very helpful when asking for recommendations etc.
- The buffet breakfast: the spread is decent but they would quickly run out of some of the dishes (especially the fruit). Also, the staff here was not very friendly.
- Internet service: they have a PC for everyone to use, but they only give each room 20 min per stay, and once that is used up, they will charge. This is pretty bad after most hotels in Vietnam let us use their PC's for free.

Stayed for two nights while on a tour of Vietnam. I thought it was one of the nicest places we stayed. Very nice pool area and really enjoyed breakfast outside in the garden each morning.

This is the best choice in Hoi An for location, value, cleanliness, safety + it has a pool, bike rentals & restaurants! I came from the US, and wanted to be in a location where I could walk to everything, but not in a hostel style hotel. This was PERFECT, and honestly...the only choice that filled all of these needs!

I had two nights (25/27.03.2009) in this Hotel and I loved it. Right in the center of the city, but a few yards from all the shopping streets. It was clean, very helpfull staff, nice pool in a beatiful garden all in a old styled building (colonial) but with lots of charm.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2009

We stayed at Hoi An Hotel for 3 nights in the beginning of January 2009. We found it a very good hotel. Our room was spacious and clean, although there was some smell of mould (or plumping tubes). The breakfast was ok, but not something special for a 4star hotel (for example, the buffet was long, but half of it - or more - was fruits). The stuff at the reception could do a bit better. We stayed with a 72 USD/night rate (discount rate). I think that should be the normal rate and not the discounted one.

  • Liked — Great location, cleanliness
  • Disliked — Poor breakfast
