We checked into this hotel for a 5 night stay and from the moment we arrived we were met by cheerful and friendly staff. After a delicious welcome drink in the lounge area (lovely coloured lanterns and lights hanging from the ceiling), the ever smiling Jo ann helpfully talked us through all we needed to know and then she showed us to our room on the top floor of tower B. The room was beautifully decorated in muted creams and brown, with a lovely view from the windows and a balcony overlooking the pool and the rice paddy fields. We were initially disappointed to find no table or chairs on the balcony but after a short phone call they promptly arrived. The bathroom was a little on the small side but had a large window with blinds overlooking the same view, you don't get bathrooms with a window much these days, therefore it was a real bonus for us. The pool area is very attractive with young palms and little spouting fountains giving it a nice tropical and relaxing feel. (We did spend rather too long there, finding it hard to leave). Also we had wifi in all the rooms and outside by the pool area too. Breakfast the first morning was taken outside overlooking the gardens. The staff serving us were falling over themselves to please especially our favourite girl Thuy, an absolute delight. There was an egg station and all the usual array of tropical fruits, meats, cheese and pastries. We had dinner on two occasions in the dining room and had a mixture of western and Asian foods and were not disappointed each time. The Hotel is just on the edge of town so it's not far to walk although there are bikes for the fit and healthy, we took taxis in the evening to go to the old town and found them to be incredibly cheap. Sadly the Spa wasn't open yet during our stay, but I took a little look around the building and it looks like it will be a great place to relax in when it's finished. There is a small well equipped gym which my husband used every day, he said the only thing it could probably benefit from is some air-conditioning. All in all we had a fabulous stay at the Essence Hotel and we hope to get back there again soon. I would like to say a special thank you to Linh who went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible and I can honestly say she did that.
