Owner description: The Hoi An Silk Village, officially opened in August 2012, is based on the ancient silk weaving traditions of Quang Nam province that used Hoi An as a commercial seaport for over 300 years. Located down the street from Hoi An's town center, the Silk Village offers an experience like no other. During the tour you'll learn about the entire production of silk from silkworm to dress. We also have a spacious restaurant serving up local delights and a high-end silk showroom where you can have custom garments designed.

Welcome drink was mulberry juice of course!
Great tour - from the little lavae to the silk thread - they cover the lot - and let you touch and feel on the way

“Would deffo recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

We decided to go to the silk village ourselves rather than through a tour, when we arrived there was nobody there and we weren't sure where to go and almost left but someone found us and took us to one of the guides. She said it would be 100,000 VND per person for the tour, we weren't sure and then she offered a free short tour which we went for and was definitely worth it, very interesting, the lady spoke very good English, answered all our questions and was really informative! We ended up back in the shop where she showed us how to tell whether a fabric was real silk or not and we brought a few items, we weren't pressured into buying anything but I found a lovely dress for 190,000 VND (approx £6) and brought an extremely pretty and large silk scarf, which could double up as a dress, for 950,000 VND (approx £30) which was well worth it :-) we decided to have a quick coffee at the cafe before leaving which was also nice and reasonably priced, overall a good 1 hour and a half spent

“Interesting way to pass some time - worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

After a long hot walk we arrived at the silk village to be greeted by a lovely tour guide who took us into the cool and gave us a lovely peach and mulberry chilled juice drink. After we had cooled down a little we went on the tour. We were shown the trees, the worms in different stages, how the silk was removed from the cocoons and woven. Quite interesting. We then purchased some lovely items from the gift shop, not hassled at all, left to browse and enjoy. Finishing with the guide organising a taxi for us back to town.

“A pleasant and interesting way to spend an hour on a very hot afternoon.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

The silk village tour was interesting and informative, and not too long. The mulberry welcome drink was delicious, and the stroll around the grounds in the shade of the trees was nice. Not high excitement, but interesting and pleasant.
