The resort and location is amazing. Service is five diamond - food is excellent. What is the best is the ocean - right off the deck. You can listen to the pounding surf all night. No sound can compare. The pool is warm and inviting. I wish that our stay was longer. I wish it was not so far away. I highly recommend

We stayed at the Victoria Hoi An after 5 days in Hanoi. We were so happy we booked a hotel on the beach, as Hoi An was a nice sunny change and a slower pace than the craziness of Hanoi, so we were happy to just chill by the pool and beach and slow down for a bit before heading in to Saigon, which we'd heard was even CRAZIER than Hanoi. The hotel was comfortable and beachy (we were given an upgrade to a beach-front room because they had the rooms free- so our room was like a gorgeous hut- air conditioned and with tranquility of the waves crashing during the night.)
The hotel organises a shuttle bus to ferry into the Old Town during the day and evening. At first when we looked at the shuttle bus hours, we thought they were a bit infrequent, but then we realised that there's not that much to do in the Old Town, so if you plan your days and the bus you want to catch to and from the hotel, its actually a really good free service. We did try walking the 5km from the hotel to the main town one day, but in the 30 degree heat- and with people hasselling you to buy stuff all along the way- it's much better to catch the bus. Or a taxi.

The brick flooring outdoor really requires a change as well as the various fishponds need an urgent cleaning! The entire setting however of this resort is certainly an attraction as its right by the sea allthough the beach is quite narrow due to the strong current of the sea.

The breakfast buffet is really an attraction and nicely presented.

The pool side has probably been renovated lately at least the floor seamed quite contemporary. But if you look for the details and a top class hotel this might not be the perfect hideaway for you...Unless they consider a total renovation, I would probably favor other hotels nearby for the future.
