My husband and I stayed at Sunrise for the last 4 nights of our honeymoon. We received a great deal through the resorts website - Stay 4 Pay 3 which was really reasonable. We booked an Ocean View room and loved waking up every morning to a view of the ocean and the nearby Danang coastline!
I had been to Hoi An before and had previously stayed in town, but quite enjoyed the seaside change - it really wasn't far to ride into town on a scooter or take advantage of the free hotel shuttle. Our only issue with this was that we arranged to hire a scooter through the hotel (which really meant that one of the staff went and got a friend who had a scooter and we paid said friend directly). Unfortunately, this said friend kept telling us that we owed him more and more money and one day harassed my husband telling him that he needed it back for the morning as he had to transport his friend somewhere. I am hoping that in future, if the hotel wants to offer this service they have their own small fleet to rent to their guests.
Apart from that, everything else was up to standard and made our stay one to remember. The pillows are AMAZING. The bathroom amenities are great and our room was always made up spotlessly. We ate at the poolside restaurant and also the inside bar - both were great. Happy hour cocktails were also a hit - with the fresh mint in the mojitos pulled straight out of the resort's own herb garden. It was really sad to see that most guests went into town after 7pm. Some nights we had to bar all to ourselves...pool table, live band and all!
Oh and how could I forget breakfast!! There was a huge range of Western and Asian options with eggs made to order. Most days we couldn't even think about more food until about 5 in the afternoon!
The ocean seemed clean enough however the locals told us that it was very close to the mouth of the river. I guess it would depend on currents etc. The pools were also clean however we didn't find it relaxing at all as we were always surrounded with hoards of young children running around screaming and jumping (these same children also ran and screamed around the restaurant at breakfast time).
Overall, this is a really nice new resort to stay at however if you're wanting a peaceful, romantic stay you might want to go somewhere without so many children. I think they need to decide whether they are a family resort or something a little more exclusive.
