“Lovely Quiet Setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

We stayed at Botanic Garden Homestay for 3 nights in June 2012 & really enjoyed it.
We were collected at the train station in Denang by the owner as organised and things just went smoothly from there.
Botanic Garden is 4 large bungalows set in a lovely garden setting. We had the Ficus bungalow which was pretty huge, it had 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge & kitchen/diner. We didn't use the kitchen but I'm sure it would be really useful for families. The bungalow was tastefully decorated with mosquito nets over the beds & good airconditioning. There is also a smallish pool in the garden, plus outdoor tables & chairs. We used the pool once to cool off & it was lovely. Everything was well maintained,
Each morning we had a nice breakfast in the reception area and the two girls who worked on reception were very helpful and friendly.
We walk a lot when we are on holidays & I think Botanic Gardens is at least 20 minutes walk into the centre of town. Its a fairly flat walk though. We also walked to the beach one day, I think the girl said it was one klm up the road, but it was actually 5-6 klms. The beach was very nice & worth the walk, but we were very hot by the time we got there!
Hoi An is a fab town & if prefer to be out of the centre where it's nice & quiet, Botanic Gardens is a good option.

Room Tip: All the bungalows are set in a lovely garden setting close to the pool. They all seems large, so I d...

We stayed here in mid April. This place is great and the setting in a beautiful lush garden with huge tropical flowers is lovely. The rooms (they are actually free-standing little houses) are very big for 2 people and have plenty of space for 4. There were 3 air conditioners in our bungalow and you'll need at least 2 of them.

Its about a 20 min walk or 10 minute bike ride from the center of town and roughly the same distance to the beach. (If you take a detour through the countryside its only about 3km longer and very pretty). They give you free bikes and its much more peaceful and less crowded than staying in the old center of town. And if you don't feel like riding bikes the taxi ride from town or the beach is very cheap--about 30,000 dong or less than $2 USD.

The family running it is very friendly although they were sometimes a bit too insistent on visiting the shops of their friends. They also provide airport/train pickups and dropoffs in Danang for about $18 USD and can arrange tours to My Son for about $35

All in all, it is a great place. Our only recommendation to the owners would be to renovate the bathrooms. The bedrooms are very new looking and clean. The bathrooms are acceptable but they do look a bit old and could use an update.

We loved staying here. Very hospitable family. Rooms were great - everything you need. We have 3 kids and they loved it. Free bikes are a plus. They organized a driver one day for us which worked well. Breakfasts were great.

Room Tip: All good rooms.

Having a little apartment with a kitchen is a nice change from vietnamese hotel rooms, and the garden layout is attractive enough when you first get there, but the rooms and ensuites are a bit grubby, the pool water was cloudy and the breakfast not particularly good. The proprieter needs to do some work to make this place cleaner and fresher.
And you'll need a bike or scooter or taxi to get to and from town.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else?

When we arrived for our four night stay we couldn't quite believe that the whole of the Pansy bungalow was ours! True, we didn't really need all that space but it was nice to know it was there - and it's always handy to have two toilets.

The bedrooms and living room were stylish, clean and very comfortable. The bathrooms could do with some updating but were perfectly adequate. Breakfasts tasty (if not fast - give yourself extra time if you're being picked up for an excursion) and the meal we were invited to along with the other guests was an amazing feast - some of the best food we ate in Vietnam. The gardens were absolutely beautiful and when the sun finally came out (most of our holiday was pretty overcast) the plunge pool was heaven. The free bikes were brilliant for pootling around town on and the 20 min stroll into Hoi An is a nice one (taxis cheap if you don't fancy walking).

A big thank you to the team, who were great - very helpful, patient and kind. We went with their tailor recommendation (The Blue Gecko I think) and were really happy with our purchases.

Only two negative points and they're related and probably a cultural thing (I know we Brits are very soppy about animals): I wasn't so keen on the single fish swimming around the small plant pots next to the sinks in both bathrooms (they looked pretty depressed and would have been much happier swimming outside in the beautiful garden!) And I felt sad that I rarely saw Luck (the tiny Chihuahua) off his short chain.

Those points aside - a wonderful place to stay. Book your bungalow before someone else does!

We did not book a holiday with 3*or 4* accommodation - so to me this was beautiful luxury. The two bedrooms suited our purposes. Very clean. Beautifully decorated and very peaceful. The gardens are exquisite (created and maintained by the owner) full of orchids and papayas and various other beautiful flowers (related to the banana family I believe). Reception was very attentive. Good recommendations (especially the tailor). Organised a trip to My Son with them too. You must take the bicycles into town (which is a 20 minute walk) and have fun with them. New bicycles too. Computers available to use, breakfast very good and if you need a corkscrew to try the local Dalat wine then just ask at reception which is a stone throw from your front door! Do not forget your swimming costume - nice dip in the pool after a hot day was just wonderful. As far as fluourescent lighting is concerned - its all over Vietnam - so just switch on the many side lamps with dimmer switches if they offend you!

Room Tip: All the apartments are flower names. So just choose your favourite!
