“Informative and 'off the beaten track'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Superb little tour, run by ethusiastic students who just want to pracitice their English! They are extremely friendly and welcoming. Best of all we were in a tiny group (4 guests, 3 hosts) which meant we could really interact and get to know them well. We visited various village homes to get a taste of local life and made a small donation at each. At the end of the tour we sat and had coffee with our guide which was a lovely way to end the tour. You must do this when in Hoi An!

“Above and beyond a typical 'tour' - must do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

We attended the free tour after looking at it on you tube. We also thought it was a lovely cause to help Vietnamese uni students practice English and for us to learn some Vietnamese! The opportunity to bike around Kim bong village, to see carpentry, sleep mat making, boat building and the temple were delivered with traditional knowledge about the history and stories from ancient times in Vietnamese culture. Of any tour this was the best because there was no pushyness to buy anything, to move on quickly or to get on and off a bus. We loved the half day with our guides Quang and Nguyet who only had the intention to teach us and learn english from us in a fun way. We thank them so much for taking the tine and enjoying the day with us. Please support them and attend because the more tours they do the more they can do new tours they are planning to do to different places. A must do in hoi an!!!!!

“Free tour, friendly service and great hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Thanks to Bong, Man, True, Nguyen, Anh and Bamboo for spending their precious weekend with us to tour the village that we otherwise would not have experience without their help. We are very fortunate to take this tour with a friendly and knowledgeable guides.

We all met up on given place and even help you rent a bike if one is not available. They made an introduction what the tour is all about and why they are free. In addition, they also explained a donation that will be collected at the start of the tour which will be given to the owner of the homes we will be visiting. It will also covers our boat transportation to and from the village.

At the village, we visited the boat wood carvings as well as wood sculpture shop. Along the way, we stopped by an old temple and had some history tour.
The rice noodle making and mat making was a great experience. We were able to visit a Vietnamese home and see the actual process of making rice noodle and mat.

The biking around town was fantastic. We were able to bike on quiet street as well as getting some great photos of the surroundings specially the rice paddies.

True to their intentions, the guides were very excited about learning the English language. Our guides were either in colleges or college graduates developing their skills.

This experience is not to be miss.

“Learn & experience Hoi An through these friendly guides”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Had an interesting morning today during the tour to kim bong village with friendly student volunteers as our guides. Pretty good experience to be able to interact and learn how the locals lead their life at the village. Will definitely recommend this tour to those who wants a different experience from the usual tours. We also made new friends exploring this rural village on bicycles :)
