If you want to learn, see and live the live of the locals, you must do a bike tour! It will be a ride not to be forgotten!
My great advice, get a private tour for 2 people only. Enjoy the maximum you can!
By the way, do not miss the crab fishing!
My husband and I went for a bike tour in Hoi An and we really enjoyed it! The tour with a private guide took 5 hours. First, we went to see the paddy fields and the vegetable plantations with our private guide, who made us try some of the local plants on the way. Then we saw the fish farms (tanks) on our way to the beach (Ao Nang). We stayed half an hour at the beach enjoying some coconut water and watching the sunset, and we came back to Hoi An. It was a great experience! I highly recommend it if you go to Hoi An.
The Hoi An Bike Tour with Phooc was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip to Vietnam.
Since we were a group of eight we booked our trip ahead of time on line. A $10 deposit per person was required via Pay Pal with the balance paid in US dollars at the end of trip. They gave us our own private tour since we were a group of eight.
It's a 9 to 10 mile ride on flat ground with many interesting stops including lunch at the organic village. Lunch was excellent and actually was a cooking demo and class.
One small negative is that they do not provide helmets.
They do have longer rides available.
I highly recommend this tour company.
Our day with Phuoc exploring the countryside around Hoian was special. Within minutes of leaving our hotel we were pedaling among rice paddies on low traffic roads and small lanes. We stopped often for explanations of farming, fish sauce making, local funeral customs, and stories about the countryside. One of the highlights was a stop at a preschool where we were greeted enthusiastically by exuberant five year olds, noisy four year olds and skittish three year olds. In the local fishing village we saw homes, fish sauce businesses, boats of various sizes, and people. We paddled round boats down river and into bamboo lined backwaters. The organic farm was beautiful. We toured the various crops, had an excellent cooking lesson followed by lunch, and then pedaled back to town. This is not a day of biking, but more of a tour of local life using the bikes as transportation. We probably went nine miles at most with numerous stops. The bikes were comfortable, well maintained, and our leader helped everyone make turns at busier roads. We only had traffic leaving and returning from our hotel. If you are in Hoi An looking to get away from typical tourist sites, this is an opportunity to experience local Vietnam away from the cities and markets. The company responded promptly to e mail enquiries and our guide's English was excellent. Superb day and a highlight of our Vietnam trip
We had a party of 15 hire bikes from a bike shop just over the bridge. The owner came with us and we saw everything. It was great. Like something out of Rambo! A must do.
Hired a guide and the five of us set off on a half day bicycle tour of hoi an.. Started off with seeing how the locals live- farmers, fishermen etc. rode off the beaten track and would never have seen the things we did without our friendly guide. Loved the crazy bicycle ride along the main drag with all the other locals in their vehicles. Happy and content to have made it back and thankful for a wonderful insightful experience.
