“Don't Judge by Appearances”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Most of the restaurants along the river have glowing red lanterns, exotic flowers and decorative balconies to entice you in. If you keep walking beyond these you will get to a rather humble place that is simply an extension of someone's home.

However, the food served is impeccable and it was that real authentic experience that we all look for when eating in another country. It was food cooked and served from the heart and for me really summed up my experience of Vietnam and its people.

The Wantons were the best we tried anywhere and the fish cooked in banana leaf was to die for. You can even get a plate of crispy chips with mayo if you are missing that certain something from back home!

“Wish I'd found this place earlier in my stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

The food was terrific fish cooked in banana leaf with lemongrass was a knock out. Chef Huong told me they get their fish from her brothers boat - family gets the best of the catch. Great location and view back over old Hoi An was pretty special, my sons chips and fish were good: crinkle cut chips and the fish was firm and delicious. If it wasn't our last night we would have been back many more times.

“Great fish and chips!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012 via mobile

Managed to find this lovely place eventually (the map icon on TripAdvisor was kind of in the wrong place - just go over the footbridge, turn left and head to the end of the street running down the river).
Due to heavy rain the restaurant experienced a power outage just as we arrived - but this didn't stop Huong from cooking up some amazing food by candlelight!
Went for the combination spring rolls - which were delicious and packed full of filling and the fish and chips - amazing, succulent fish.
Service was a bit slow, but really couldn't complain given the circumstances and the laid-back location.
Will definitely be going back to try different things on the menu and maybe even do the cooking class. Highly recommended in Hoi An.

“Hidden gem with cheap beer and great night views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

Found this place by accident, but well worth it. Very cheap cold beer and food was quite good. No pushy service and excellent value. Fish in banana leaf was beautiful along with home style chips and home made noodles...

“Friendly and good value - also cooking courses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

After being shocked at the prices in Hoi An (we came from the south), we found this extremely delicious and friendly restaurant, which was really good value. It's opposite the main old street in Hoi An, so has a lovely view in the day of the old town and in the evening of the lights. They apparently also run cooking courses, which we didn't do, but some other travellers had really enjoyed this.
