“The rooms are fine but it's super noisy with drunk backpackers at night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

Stayed here for 3 nights and every night I was woken up multiple times but drunk people wandering around the halls singing and screaming at each other. It went on for quite a while it's unbelievable no one told them to be quiet.

My friend also stayed with us in a dorm room and despite booking a 4 bed dorm on the second night he came in to find it had turned into a 6 bed dorm. He had to check he was in the right room as no one informed him they were going to add another bunk. When he went to pay they said they only have 6 bed dorms and that they are the same price as 4. Apparently the booking websites are wrong...but no one has fixed it.

The rooms are fine, comfy bed, large enough, the shower works fine. I wouldn't stay here again but if you are into the whole drunk backpacker scene and dont mind staying in a 6 bed dorm go for it.

Also we heard one girl had all of her luggage stolen while we were here. Prob the drunks not the hotel.

Sunflower Hotel is a bit away from the Hoi An city centre and mainly hosts backpackers. So far, alright for us. The twin room was like we expected, clean and with an ensuite bathroom. Breakfast next morning was in fact the greatest on our entite trip...

Why we didn't like Sunflower Hotel so much was because the staff (though being friendly) was very pushy with selling us transport. If asked about other modes of transportation (such as the 18'000 Dong public bus from Hoi An to Danang) they gave very confusing answers... Deliberately, so to push us into taking one of their taxis?

We stayed here as a group of 4 and we're very pleased. Initially there was a problem with the booking (we booked a 4 bed dorm and they put us in a 6) however once this was sorted there were no further problems.

This is a large hostel as therefore lots of people come and go. Everybody seemed very friendly and easy going.

The breakfast was included and was good, freshly cooked omelettes and eat all you can buffet.

Staff were helpful and friendly.

Location is good, approx 15 mins walk from the town centre.

Would stay here again if back in the area!

best hostel, nice staff, AMAZING breakfast, party but also chill, best place to meet other travelers.
a bit far from the center but with a 1$ per day bicycle you will be there in 10 minutes. it is closer to beach though.

Room Tip: NOT first floor. to much noise

I had read reviews about the noise in the ground floor rooms so when I was allocated to one I asked to move but they were full - so glad because I've slept well every night and met the best people in my dorm! You can hear a lot of noise as the walls are thin but I think its more about luck as to whether you stay when there are people being noisy at night - thats often the way with hostels.

The reception staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful and can arrange any tours and transport for you.

The rooms do smell musty and could be cleaner, and are 6 bed not 4 bed dorms. As everone said the breakfast is great, and if you arrive early before check in you can pay for breakfast (its free the rest of the stay) and even get a shower as they have showers and toilets next to reception (also useful if your dorm bathroom is in use!)

Location wise its about 10-15 mins to the main town area but an easy walk so not a problem. Also there is a great restaurant/bar across the road called Solo that does 3000 vnd beer and cheap tasty food. Perfect if you dont fancy the walk into town

If you want to meet people and dont need luxury then this is a good choice. If you arrive in the early morning you should get a room and a minibus waits at the bus station to collect people, but if you are arriving any later then book ahead as they get booked up by the afternoon

After seven days on a tour through northwestern Vietnam, I ended up here for four days. It's been pouring rain. At first I'd booked the backpacker dorm, but they had one private left at twenty a night. I grabbed it and it was the right choice. It's very quiet, great for deep sleep. Their huge breakfast buffet would please anyone but the most picky eater. The staff is quick to please, You MUST have cash, it's how they keep the prices down. I like being given a very simple, although not to-scale map.The place is full of kids, backpackers, which I enjoy and usually join in with. But with much writing to do and rain to deal with, a private room with a fridge - hey for twenty bucks?- who can complain. Staff here speaks more than adequate English so you can get help for almost anything you need. The kind of place you can get rested, get help, get directions, get rested. Unless, of course, you;re the stay up all night and get drunk and annoy your bunk mate type. And by the way, the bathrooms are sparkling clean. And thank you so very much for THAT. You can get yogurt and drinks and snacks and pho right around the corner and if you don't mind a bit of a hike and are determined to spend too much on touristy stuff and the overabundance of clothing stores around here, it's a nice little hike. There are motorbikes and plenty of push pedal bikes for rent. This is a very walkable area, and to my mind, there's no point in cycling it if you can walk it first and really see the people here.

Huge big bed. Did I say a fridge?

I find it interesting that another reviewer is annoyed that the bar closes at ten and it's lights out at 11 pm. This isn't a party hostel. This is a hotel which also has backpacker accommodation. Big difference. After some of the epic hikes I've been on lately I"m grateful that Sunflower provides the quiet I need to rest. Thanks to this hotel for making sure that can happen.

Room Tip: Quiet on the top floor, good exercise to get there!

The hostel is great for backpackers coming to Hoi An. Loads of travellers converge through here so you'll meet just about everyone passing up or down Vietnam. The pool area is great for relaxing in the day and before going out at night, has an ipod cable so people can put their own tunes on before the 11:30 shut down. Rooms are fairly basic but they have a bath which is a rarity. Bring a plug extension though as there are only a few plugs. Food and drinks are great and priced normally for most backpacker hostels, cheaper food and beer can be had in town but it does the trick. Free breakfast is also brilliant. There is also a free bus to Volcano at night and its better to take that as the motorbike taxis have fares that seem to quadruple once you get there. Book ahead in high season. Staff were helpful and friendly
