“Friendly staff and great accomadation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

If you're on a budget but still want to relax and enjoy your vacation, this is the place to stay. While it's not as cheap as a hole in the wall you are getting what you pay for! Awesome buffet style breakfast in the morning, beautiful pool and patio, night time bar/cafe outside and a super friendly staff. The room was beautiful and very clean. We received tons of help from the staff and you can rent a motocycle just outside. It's in a great location of Hoi An.. the beach is a 15min walk to your right and the river is a 5 minute walk to your left. My Son is also quite close so I highly recommend renting a scooter and hitting the road for a self guided tour of the ruins!

Title says it all really, clean rooms, helpful staff, nothing wrong here and cheap in comparison to some of the other options. Not the best location but it's only a short walk into the main town. Main point being cheap for what you get.

The Sunflower has several off setting characteristics that balance it out to an average place to stay.

The Amazing:

Hands down the breakfast is by far one of the best I have had at any hotel in South East Asia.

The Good:

The room (double ensuite) is spacious and well equipped.

The Bad:

The staff claims to have awards (hanging on their wall). But I found them non-attentive, blunt (no pleasentries), and they seemed unorganized.

The location is nothing to write home about. It is in the middle of the old town and the beach. You are a twenty minute walk from the old town and 30+ to the beach. Not a problem if you don't mind catching a cab. But I would have rather been close to at least one of the two and caught a cab to the other.

The Ugly:

The shower is a disaster. It is a shower / bathtub and the shower head is in the middle of the bathtub facing out. So you have all this space to your left and your right, while you are standing in the middle trying not to topple backward out of the tub.

As others have said the breakfast here is amazing with a huge choice on offer - you definitely leave full every morning! We managed to get picked up by them from the bus station when we arrived by getting the bus company to call them. I would recommed this as they did not reply to the email we sent a few days before about picking us up. There is the free shuttle to the town, but we hardly used it as it is only a 15 minuite walk. The pool area is lovely too and a great place to chill.

This hotel is well worth the money. My only complaint would be that the walls appeared to be very thin between rooms as we could hear conversations next door. We also got woken up by people talking after coming back in the early hours. It really sounded like they were in our room.

Sunflower Hotel is great value for money for travellers wanting a decent budget hotel in Hoi An. Our family of five shared one room which was a little cramped with two double beds, however staff happily brought in a fold out stretcher for our youngest. Buffet breakfast had a huge array of food (some of it quite interesting!). There was a nice pool area, and a bar but it was very quiet while we were there over the New Year period. This was partly due to the chilly weather, but even when it warmed up most of the young guests seemed to head into town as the bar closed quite early. There are a number of good family run restaurants on the same road, but for atmosphere the Old Town is hard to beat. It is a bit of walk to town (15 mins), but there is a shuttle (which seemed a bit hard to book)! By bicycle it is close to Cua Dai Beach where we enjoyed a day out. The best part was the friendly, helpful staff who were always willing to help or just chat. My son left something behind and the manager sent it on to us at our hotel in Nha Trang right away. Great service!

Stayed here for three nights in a dorm, really comfy bed and nice rooms. Good atmosphere to meet people and yummy breakfast!

staff were helpful and interenet was free, only thing that kind of annoying was the fairly long walk to town which wasnt even that bad only 10 or 15mins but you can always get a bike from outside the hotel! also pool was LUSH! had a great time.

Room Tip: Some are smaller than others but even so still good! Maybe ask for a large one if your fussy.

Beautifully presented hotel about 10 minute walk from the centre of town and not far from the beach. Only stayed one night but was made to feel very welcome and the breakfast in the morning was 5 star!
