We wanted to experience some local life and also do a cooking class. We're met by our lovely host, Lily who took us to the HoiAn market and provided a great tour of the local produce: fishmongers; butchers; and vegetable market. After buying a few ingredients it was back on our bikes to the Tra Que village, a leisurely ride through the rice paddies. After arriving we were provided with cool drinks and a tour of then village market gardens. Our 9 year old was taught and learnt a lot from Lily who pitched the delivery at our young daughter, with the tour being both educational and entertaining. Then after a quick foot bath it was down to the real business, the cooking class. We went for option 1 of the potential 3 menu's that included the green papaya salad. it was amazing and we are looking forward to cooking for friends when we get back to Australia. The instruction by Lily was exceptional, explaining everything as she went. Our daughter especially liked carving the vegetables into swans, rabbits and tulips. The food was plentiful and equated to a four course meal. Went home feeling like a fat ladies sock. Overall, we had a fantastic family day, with wonderful locals and got exactly what we wanted. Cannot recommend Lily and this tour enough - money well spent!
