“Relaxed stay but overpriced for facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We stayed two nights here in march 2013, like other reviewers we were hoping for a swimming pool but were told this had disappeared due to flooding. However it doesn't appear the hotel reduced their price to reflect this ( we checked into another hotel down the road with a swimming pool for the same price).

However there were positives about the place the atmosphere was relaxed and the view from the balcony overlooked a rice field which was charming. The room was quiet. Unfortunately the beds were a bit hard (we had a twin room) staff were friendly and the breakfast was good as food was freshly prepared to order rather than a buffet.

Had it had a swimming pool I'd have scored this higher - it's not just lonely planet but the website we booked through also stated it had a pool. Wireless signal was a little intermittent as well.

Room Tip: Get one at the back overlooking the rice fields have a feeling ones at the front or near the kitchen...

We stayed three nights at the Thien Nga Hotel. We were looking forward to the swimming pool but there isn't one. Lonely Planet needs to update this info. Rooms were a good size and overlooked the rice paddies at the back of the hotel.

Good location. We hired bikes and had two great days cycling around.

I felt that the staff could have been friendly and could get some tips on customer care from other hotels that we have stayed in. There was not much of a welcome and once we checked out that was it. Purely a business.

We stayed 2 nights at the Thien Nga Hotel in a double superior room ($35 per night, room 305) and were pleased with the hotel. Our room was spacious with a balcony with a table and comfrotable outdoor chairs, and a beautiful view on some rice paddies. This side of the hotel is very quiet; the standard room have their windows on the street which is probably more noisy. the bed was very large and comfy. There was a bath in the bathroom. There was a mini bar, and the wifi and the air con worked well. There are also some laptops available in the lobby.
Continental breakfast is included: not the best one I've ever had but ok with bread, eggs or pancakes, coffee/tea, shake juice and fresh fruits. The location is very convenient: 5-10 min from the Old town.
You can rent bikes from the hotel/the lady next door for $1 a day and it's really nice to see the rice paddies or the beach.
Things that can be improved: staff is nice but a bit distant compared to other hotels we've seen in Vietnam, bus booking advice ok as long as you know what you want and that is is pretty standard but not amazing. And there is no swimming pool (contrary to one misleading picture posted and contrary to what the Lonely Planet states - apparently some confusion with another Thien Nga hotel) compared to hotels in the neighboorhoud in the same price range.

Room Tip: If you can afford to spend $5 more, choose a room with a garden view: nice view and very quitet. The...

We stayed here for two nights. I booked through agoda online after trying to call and email them with no reply. We turned up after our day bike trip from hue to hoi an with a rude arrival "have you booked with us". No hello or welcome. We were given a room right behind reception next to the kitchen which was noisy in the mornings and it constantly smelt like sewage. It ruined our experience for the rest of hoi an. Totally disappointed.

An easy walk to beautiful old town Hoi An and the bus stop .Our room backed on to fields of water spinach ,some bananas and a few chickens ,made it like living in the country but in town .A good sized well appointed room ,and bathroom ,with a set of french doors opening on to a private patio overlooking the fields .Hoi An is a beautiful town but it can get really hectic and busy , this hotel is relaxing and comfortable for contrast . Breakfast is included and bikes can be rented for $1 a day .We extended our stay here after we found it was an easy ride to a pretty good beach too .I would reccomend this place

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms at the back have a great covered patio with a country veiw

Clean, airy hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast.

5 minute walk from center city.

Simple bathroom. My husband wishes there was a shower curtain in the tub, but it wasn't the end of the world.

Would stay here again.

Stopped planning just a day or two & stayed a week. Hoi An is a pretty city, and the hotel was sooo nice. Great room, perfect ac, good computers, and the breakfast? Paris has nothing on the baguette here. How come Ryzzzr31 got his moto for 20k dong, and I had to pay 100k (kidding - how can I complain about $5 for a day's worth of moto to My Son?). The view off the back, of rice paddies, is worth the price alone. Just great. If I ever get back to Hoi An, I'll call Thien Nga.

Room Tip: Back rooms have a view of the rice paddies.
