“Out of this world service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2011

This is by far the best value for my money I have ever gotten. The service is phenomenal-- from macaroons, fruit, and tea when you first enter, to the delicious a la carte breakfast, to the sincere friendliness of the employees. My friends and I had to rebook our tickets to Hanoi, and the woman behind the counter graciously spent more than an hour helping us converse with the airline to figure it out.
The location is excellent, too - just a 10 min walk from the center of downtown Hoi An. A highlight of our trip to Vietnam!

My husband and I really enjoyed Hoi An over the Tet holiday... even with literally NOTHING being open! (keep this in mind future travelers) The staff at this hotel greet you with a smile every time you come into the lobby area, memorize your room number and bring you your key, and are extremely warm and friendly. We are happy to have had such hospitable hosts =)

Breakfast is to DIE for! Try the pancakes... they are more like funnel cakes and are deep-fried, but not overly greasy.

The room is not excellent, but what do you expect for $22/nt? Actually, I would have been fine with the room if it wasn't for the very strong smell of mildew that makes the air feel really thick and unbreathable. The bathroom is a bit old but it was relatively clean (although the toilet seat was broken). We even had a bathtub/shower combo which you NEVER see in Vietnam!

So yeah, only complaint is the mildew. It's an older building, so I guess you should expect some signs of age and use.

We stay here for 3 nights with our 2 daughters aged 14 and 16. We arrived here on New Years eve at 5.30pm after the day with Hue riders. We were welcomed like long lost freinds. They had tea for us with the most yummy coconut biscuits. We were welcomed by all the staff and we were then invited for New Years dinner with all the guest and staff. We were taken to our rooms which were fantastic and clean, Showered then straight down for dinner. We all still talk about the evening, meeting new people and eating the best food, and drinks. All the Hue riders were there as well and this made for a great evening. The breakfast was great, good menu and great shakes of which was included in price. We had 3 great days in Hoi An and would have been nice to stay a little longer. When checking out they gave us all a small present and when paying we exspected to pay for the New Year dinner but this was free. Thankyou all for such a great stay. We will be back. The reservation was flawless through email, something you can't get with the big hotels that always demand credit card, etc.

The rooms are basic, but sufficient: a/c, wi-fi, good beds, its all here. If you are looking for luxury pick another hotel, but if you visit Hoi An you should hardly care about the room beyond the basics, which the hotel provides.

The breakfast on the balcony was nice too. A reviewer mentioned earlier that the bath tub is really high and it is difficult to get in and out. When i read it i thought its a petty comment, but when we stayed there it turned to be a pretty valid warning. So be careful in the tub!

Also make sure you know exactly where the hotel is located. Many of the bus services like to drop you in front of a hotel in the middle of nowhere, so you need to be able to find your way from that point.

They give also nice Vietnamese gifts before you leave!

This is a really nice hotel, and the people in charge of it are extremely helpful, they don't hassle you with tours and reservations. Nevertheless, I think rooms are a little expensive for Vietnamese prices. Room is small and, in our case, it was just by the reception, which made it a little noisy.
In any case, if you don't mind expending 6-7 dollars more than what it actually costs, come to this hotel, it's a nice experience.

After our first hotel experience in Hoi An, the Hoang Trinh was a welcome change. We were welcomed with open arms, tea, and coconut macaroons, before we were shown to our room.

We were umming and ah-ing about whether we were going to stay here or somewhere else for a longer period of time, but we only had to take one glance at the room to sign up for a whole week. It was clean, well-decorated, and we even had our own little balcony. The shower / bath was a welcome addition, and for a fantastic $22 per night - how could you possibly go wrong?

The staff is in a class of their own; always smiling, always offering tea and bisquits, and always trying to help. They offered to talk us through the map of the area with recommendations of what to see, etc.

The second day, when we got back in, the receptionist lit up, with a bright "Hello again!", and insisted on giving us a present. It turned out to be a couple of pots of yoghurt - but a very welcome little token of awesomeness it was!

Our room was nice and quiet, too (A huge welcome change after our run-in with Thanh Van).

Breakfast... What can I say; we tried the omelette, which tasted as if it had been fried in a heart-stopping amount of butter. Bad for you? Sure, but so fantastically tasty!

All in all, a fantastic place to be, and I have no hesitations in recommending this place to anyone else who stays in Hoi An.

I spent a week here on my own before my girlfriend arrived, as it was cheaper and closer to town. (We had pre-booked somewhere else that looked more 'glamorous' for when she arrived). In retrospect I wished we hadn't moved, as Madam An and her staff are genuinely friendly, attentive and helpful. I was welcomed with hot tea and coconut cakes when I arrived, the fruit platters every morning were just incredible, and I felt totally at home. 10/10 for damn good value. Thank you.
