“Great chef and excellent experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Fantastic full day cooking class. The day started off with a tour of the local Vietnamese farms and a drink at a local family's house. Next we went to the farmer's market where we bought the ingredients we would be using later in the day to cook. Once we arrived back at the restaurant (located on the river with beautiful grounds surrounding it) we were offered our choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and to top it off it was all you can drink for the rest of your time there. 4 meals were on the menu for the day. We made a soup, salad and two seafood dishes. The class was small (6 people) and the food was delicious. Great value for $35. To finish the day we took a boat ride back in to old town to where the day started. Thanks to Anh and Phi for the great day. Highly recommended.

“Fun and flavourful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Great half day tourist experience. Nothing is going to turn a novice into a Vietnamese chef in 5 hours, but the was a great experience giving ine a taste of what is possible. The market tour was a wonderful assault on the senses with sound and smells that prime you for the cooking ahead and onformation to convey a sense of th complex tastes possible in Vietnamese cuisine. The downriver trip was fun and the beautiful setting for the restaurant should inspire anyone. Cooking instructions were clear, concise and complete with many staff standing by to assist and insure you did not stray too far. The staff were funny, friendly and kind to both novices and those a bit more experienced in the kitchen. Overall I would consider it a highlight of our visit to Hoi an.

“Night class is just dinner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

we opted for the night class ($17/p incl 1 beer) as we could not fit in the day classes because of all our fitting sessions at the tailors. wished we'd just skipped it all together. i chose this one because lonely planet suggested it.
sit on table of 10 with chef at one end (so people at the far end can't see very well). chef didnt seem very interested and didnt explain anything very well. all we actually did was chop up vegetables very finely - that's it! then the chef just goes and puts the rolls/meat in the pan. when it came to making the spring rolls he hardly even showed us how to roll them properly, everyone just sat at the table confused. got more information about the food from the travellers sitting next to us.
its really just an expensive dinner with a bit of a demo at the beginning.
they sold us little cooking knives at the end (30k i think) which i liked.

“Markets, Herbs, Recipes and Cooking at the Red Bridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Mimi conducted the tour through the markets, lots of information and good humour. We boarded boats for a leisurely cruise to the restaurant. Mimi reappeared and took us through a walk through the herb garden offering samples to taste and smell. Then, with her third change of clothes, Mimi became the chef. Very good class, conducted well, great location.

“Great cooking class in Hoi An!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

My partner did the famous Morning glory restaurant class which she said was more of a cooking demonstration. I also did a street stall cooking class from Ms. Nam but it was more a fast short cut way of cooking (i.e chicken buillion, lots of oil and sugar) Red Bridge was awesome because the location was beautiful and relaxing far away from the city center and with the stoves facing the river. There were only 4 people in my Deluxe class and we really cooked everything ourselves from scratch with fresh healthy ingredients and no shortcuts ie grinding all our own spices. I learned to make my favorite Pho noodles and Pho broth from scratch!
